Tried it a couple of times .... way too uncomfortable for me.
 
been going commando for years. I don't make a habit of wearing light/thin garments either.
 
I only go commando if I am not wearing jeans otherwise I tend to run on the zipper and it not only produces a noticeable lump, it chaffs a bit.
