117 Hospitalized After Drinking Holy Water

I guess this is the difference with Russian Orthodox. In all my years of being Catholic I've never understood Holy Water to be drunk. It is always used as a blessing, anointing the sick, baptism and so on but never to my knowledge consumed. The priest prays a blessing over the water and the water spreads the blessing to those who come in contact with it, is the idea.

Well, clearly, they were hospitalized as punishment for their unspecified sin. Isn't it obvious?

A total of 117 people, including 48 children, were in the hospital complaining of acute intestinal pain after drinking water from wells in and around a local church last week, said Vladimir Salovarov, a spokesman for the Irkutsk branch of the Investigative Committee.

Seriously, when I went to a church long time ago, I found a daddy-long-legs nesting in the water basin (other than a thick heap of dust on the base) :eek:.

Only GOD knows what's in the water and it's definitely an unholy thing pretending to be holy.
