Discussion: [Two years is too early and soon for Oscar-winner, Philip Seymour-Hoffman to iron his tuxedo and shine his shoes for "The Savages" and "Charlie Wilson's War". Terrence Howard will benefit with double Oscar
nominations in "The Hunting Party" and "The Brave One" a feat he should have accomplished earlier with "Hustle and Flow" and "Crash" instead Oscar-winner, William Hurt earned for a best supporting actor nomination in"A History Of Violence". Newcomer, Paul Dano will benefit from a sweep by There Will Be Blood. Veteran character, Phillip Bosco will receive a career lifetime achievement nomination for "The Savages" over his co-star, Oscar winner, Philip Seymour-Hoffman. Marc Forrester guided Halle Berry to her first Oscar and will get Shaun Toub a chance. Armin Mueller-Stahl responsible for Jessica Lange receiving a best actress nomination for "The Music Box" eventually winning for the beloved "Blue Sky" sacrificed his first nomination and finally received his for "Shine" which won an Oscar for Geoffrey Rush. Both Rush and Stahl could make return visits to the party; if Rush benefits from "Elizabeth" sweep and likewise for Stahl for "Eastern Promises". It will be interesting to witness both Blanchett and Rush reprise there Oscar-nominated roles in a sequel and Howard and Blanchett as double-nominated repeating a distinguish recognition earned by Oscar-winners: Holly Hunter and Emma Thompson.]

I Love This Discussion On Award Shows But How Could You Not Mention Chaka Khan For Best R&B Female For "Foolish Fool"From Her New CD "Funk This",I Have It And She Sound's Great!:-({|=

U.K. rapper and songstress Maya Arulpragasam will be nominated for Album of the Year and Best Rap Album for "Kala". Last time around in 2005 her debut album received a Best Female Rap Performance nomination. Chicago Native and Grammy-winner, Chaka Khan will walk away with four nominations all in the R&B field/genre: Best R&B Album for "Funk This!" Her duet with fellow Grammy-winner, Mary J. Blige called "Disrespectful" will earn the two a nomination in the R&B Duo or Group with Vocals category and thus the same for the Traditional R&B Vocal Performance for "Will You Love Me" and likely for the already crowded Best R&B Female Vocal Performance category for "Foolish Fool". Sistas always keep evolving beyond; wake-up brothas!

Terrence, I've moved this thread to the Music/Gaming/etc forum because as "Grammy Gals" it has less to do with male celebs than general entertainment.

Enjoy.

Rhianna's album was good but it wasnt one of the years best five and well see if your telling the truth on nomination day

Yea, these Grammy nom's are clearly just a wishlist. I didnt read em all, but he's got Eve's album nominated for best rap album. The damn thing hasnt even come out yet and wont be out before the Grammy's cut off date, which I think passed a few days ago.

I am rooting for Kelly Clarkson all the way at the grammys this year. I think her "My December" album was waaaaaaaaaaaaay underratted. It is a great album and I listen to it all the time. Her song "Irvine" is so spectacular and haunting without doing too much. It's just simple and beautiful. "Sober" is an amazing song as well. She needs to get more credit for this album than people are giving her. Just because she didn't take the easy route and made a typical pop album like "Breakaway" again, doesn't mean "My December" isn't great music as well. It's just a shame that not many people have taken the time to listen to it.

Record labels and major conglomerates [Sony/BMG & Virgin/EMI/Geffen] have a history of submitting and advertising ineligible entries past the yearly September 30th deadline. If an artist releases various selections from a forth-coming album before and sometimes after the deadline expires both the singles and album are deem eligible.
