Re: Aug. 12, 2012 - A Day at a Time

Chris,

a sober life is a wonderful thing. all of those "days at a time" add up. It has been over 17 years since I took my last drink, and I try to remain grateful.

Re: Aug. 16, 2012 - A Day at a Time

August 15 marked my 4th year of being clean. It was a long struggle but my life is so much better.

To anyone that is fighting addiction: Please get some help. Addiction is a disease, the same as cancer or diabetes. There are treatments and medications that can help you fight for your life. Don't be ashamed to ask for help. Addiction doesn't care who it strikes. Rich or poor, millionaires or the homeless. Your not alone and there is help available.

Steven.

Why are you posting 3 Threads in the wrong forums ?
Better still why are you posting copyright material , you can get JUB into trouble ?

I am genuinely happy that you've found recovery and/or sobriety, but please tone down your enthusiasm. Despite its perks, no one appreciates the perks being shoved down one's throat. How many thousands of people do those Jehovah Witnesses have to visit before they meet that ONE person that is authentically interested in their 144,000 Heaven slots?

Live and embody your recovery, people will come to you and ask. Congratulations to you [just for today].

The copyright question is actually a good one. Hazelden Publishing does allow for brief quotes of their books, however this 4-5 quotes per day is probably treading on the intent and will end up in the posts/threads being deleted.

Permission to quote from Hazelden
copyrighted works

In order to protect the copyright and message integrity of works produced by Hazelden, we require that formal permission be obtained in advance if a person wishes to copy or excerpt from our materials.

We generally approve requests for the right to reproduce a short excerpt from a work (a couple of paragraphs or less or a single daily reading from a meditation book) if it is used in a free publication and full attribution is given

My son is in recovery from an addition to pills and and just celebrated his 13 month of sobriety - so proud of him. The disease of addiction affects the entire family and everyone must rise from the ashes with help of their own Higher Power in order to stay healthy - one day at a time. Thank you for sharing those wise words.

how about you tone down your attitude. Nobody forced you to open and read his threads. He was trying to be supportive, positive and offer some hope to people that are suffering the horror of addiction. Would you have said the same thing to someone that started a cancer survivor thread? Addiction is a disease that kills thousands of people a year. He wasn't preaching to anyone. We get a new member that is trying to offer some hope and inspiration and you greet him with sarcasm and negativity.

To the OP. I appreciate your posts and looked forward to reading them. I hope you will re join and continue to share with those of us that want to read them.

Steven.
