I was looking for a video board for my computer that is compatible with Windows Vista®, but there are so many that I could not make up my mind.
Can you suggest any?
Thanks!(*8*)

The two major things that need upgrading for me is a video card and memory. It's rather hard to go through the video cards because there are the ones that are coming out that reach 512MB and more. I need 2GB of RAM.

is your pc pci-e of agp

either way nvidia or ati and basically the more you pay the better you get if you want to play games then ati x1900 series or nvidia 7900 for DX9 but they are both comming out with DX10 graphics cards

nvidia 8500 is probably slower than the 7xxx series but is DX10 so is more future proof for now anyway
8600 is probably the card i would get atm as the 8800 is v expensive

now that i have thouroghly confused you;) if all you want is aero support then pretty much and old card from ati or nvidia will do it

oh yea my graphics card is the ati X550 until i can upgrade it and it is about A$70-80 and everything in vista works fine

Oh yeah.../\ you'll need to know if you have a PCI-express (aka PCI-e) video card slot or a AGP video card slot. the Geforce card i mentioned above is an AGP card, although i think it also came in a regular PCI (NOT PCI-e) version.

Yes, I have a PCI slot.

Hi Hunky - I don't want to sound condescending so please don't take it that way but do you have a PCI or PCI-e slot? Because there's a big difference. Could you take a photo of that part of your mobo and post it?

PCI for graphics cards IMO isn't a great option.

Hey, how´s it going?
I read my mother board manual and it says that I have 1 slot for AGP1 and 3 stots for PCI1.
I am very confused about all this information.
Thanks again!(*8*)

Could you post the make and model details of your mother board and we can give you much more specific advice?

Don't be shy ;)

lol!
Ok, there you go:
