With Pride Month coming to a close, opinions on a Pride Anthem are ongoing.

I like the intro theme to "The Galaxy Rangers" from 1986. Pick up your Guts and Grab some Glory!

(It's very cool so turn up the volume)

Not sure one song could encompass the diversity that is within gay numbers.

Traditionally, camp rock genre like the stuff Freddie Mercury sang gathered a great deal of gay followers, as well as ABBA songs from Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, or other songs associated with divas or camp themes.

The reason I don't think an anthem is possible is that gays simply don't view their sexuality the same. It's not quite like the civil rights struggle where the oppressed shared a common fight with the oppressors, including the governments.

Gays in America may or may not relate to divas and drag, may or may not live in communities that regard them as depraved, and may or may not identify with music of any sort as "theirs".

My guess is that we'll just enjoy a shared appreciation for those who DO have identities bonded with a genre or song, just as we have friends who like show tunes, glam rock, or house music. I don't care for any of those, but I like people who do, and share their joy vicariously. I'm a huge fan of classical, folk, sacred, and ancient music, so don't expect friends to necessarily share those either.
