OK, I'm putting this in Entertainment for logical purposes... Many, many years ago (and I am talking early 90's here), I saw this music video that was really weird with some guy lying on a bed or altar dying/dead, with some woman singing her sad song, "Stay with me." Suddenly, this other chick with this freaky black gown appears, the song changes beat, and the new woman starts singing. I want to say part of her lines include, "You better hope and pray that you awake one day back in your own world." Then they alternate their lyrics with each other.

I know I'm going out on a limb here, especially with a memory from at least 16 years ago, but does anybody know what I'm talking about?

The song is called "Stay" and it's by a band called "Shakespeare's Sister" in the 90s. One half of Shakespeare's Sister is Siobhan Fahey of the 80s UK band Bananarama.

yes, this song is brilliant!! their voices are brilliant!

here's their song "I Don't Care"

In a borealic iceberg came Victoria
Queen Victoria sitting
Shocked upon the rocking horse of a wave
Said to the Laureate
This minx of course as sharp as any lynx
And blacker deeper than the drinks
As any hottentot without remorse
For the minx said she
And the drinks you can see
Are hot as any hottentot
And not the goods for me
Hot as any hottentot
And not the goods for me

(!)

I immediately though 'Shakespeare's sister' myself, which is odd - I've rarely so much as heard mention of the song, and only ever saw that video once.

The other half of the duo was Marcella Detroit. She began her career as Marcy Levy and was part of Eric Clapton's band for years. She is the female vocalist on his song "Promises". You've also probably seen her in an episode of "Absolutely Fabulous" as God's (played by Marianne Faithfull) guitarist. I believe that Siobhan Fahey is married to Dave Stewart of Eurythmics...
