ABC to cancel "All My Children" and "One Life to Live"

From what I've heard, General Hospital is propably going to be canceled next year.
No surprise there, especially since it became the General Sonny show.

One Life To Lives ratings have overtaken General Hospital. The cause of the reason for General Hospital's decline? The killing of the baby by a drunken Luke. There are a lot of things going on trying to save the shows. The sponsors are making threats to ABC if they do not keep the shows on? They will pul advertisement from ABC and ABC will lose money that way.

I heard other celebrities are trying to rallying around the OLTL. It is just rumors, but people like Reba, snoop and others who appeared on the show are trying to keep them alive.

Sorry, ABC did announced that V have been canceled as well. This is not joking.

The only soaps that I've ever watched have been AMC and OLTL. I stopped watching AMC after they got rid of great characters like Brooke and Dixie and the original Liza (yes I understand it was the actors at times) and they failed to bring in new interesting characters to fill in the void.

I've stuck by OLTL for years even during its really crappy phases (Music Box killer anyone?) and its not the best right now but I wish that it wasn't being canceled.

I think where they went wrong was focusing on young, inexperienced actors and taking the emphasis off of the veterans. I can remember points of OLTL where great characters like Viki, Dorian, Bo, and Asa were rarely on and these teen actors were everywhere. No one cared about them. No one CARES about them!

They also shoudn't have steered away from romance and into this trashy drama they have these days. All of these Maury/Jerry storylines are terrible. All I want to see is my favorite characters living and loving, and having great adventures along the way. Sure, there needs to be bumps along the way but they should be bumps, not mountains, and they shouldn't be the same repetitive trashy storylines over and over (like the piling on of Brody!)

Don't watch AMC, but it'll still be weird when it's gone. As for OLTL, with the days dwindling, I'd hope that they get rid of the countless waste-of-airtime characters they have running around, and focus in on core characters. You know, the ones who've kept fans watching over the years.


Btw, I was gonna start a seperate thread, but I'll go ahead and ask here. For OLTL fans....Roger or Trevor? I'll admit, it took me awhiiiiile to get used to Trevor's "Todd", but not only did he eventually win me over, he's probably my biggest crush in daytime. The actor, not the character. Seriously, the guy drives me fucking crazy

Actually, I do think Roger brought more to the role, and he's pretty fucking sexy too-- ya seen those SHOULDERS?!

Anybody else SUPER PISSED over the way they completely trashed Marty?

My mom used to watch it all the time but she got sick and tired of the show being all about Sonny and his drama while the other characters got shoved to the wayside.
Throw in the fact they don't know when to drop certain storylines nad you have a couple of the reasons why GH is on the chopping block.

The current custody storyline is a perfect example of of the writer's Sonny/Maurice fixation. I mean, Jax is being painted as a complete asshole, for NOT wanting his daughter to be raised in an environment well bullets fly, and cars are blown up on a daily basis? Don't even get me started on the butcher job they've done on Brenda...

It took me a while to get used to Trevor also...but now I like him more in the role than Roger. Both guys are sexy as all get out...in their own way. I think Trevor made Todd more believable for the role. Roger was too one dimensionally dark and mysterious...Trevor, several layers to his character. (I don't really know how to describe it...)

That's what I like about OLTL...the men, for the most part, are really good looking and not afraid to take their shirts off... Robert Ford (David Gregory) and Cutter Wentworth (Josh Kelly) especially right now. OLTL has always been about "sex sells"...and that was always fine with me. Plus, I liked a lot of the unbelievable, over the top, and humorous story lines OLTL's comes up with and they seem to be faster paced than AMC and GH. It seems the way the current story lines are going though that we're going to be seeing a lot of the cast dying and moving/running away from town. Matthew dying, Clint dying, Marty on the run, Charlie leaving (really couldn't care about him anyway...lol) Certainly more deaths to come. It wouldn't surprise me if a bomb blows up the town in the last episode...the way they're going.

I never watch AMC any more...boring. GH...yup, the Sonny as central plot/character has always been a turn-off to that show. I also have really disliked the Lucky and whatever the Irish (?) girl he married, Balken, Brenda, etc. story line. Only reason I even half watch GH anymore is for Nikolas (Tyler Christopher) ...who I think is one of the sexiest guys on daytime tv. But he doesn't get anywhere near enough airtime since Emily's death. Did I read somewhere he's going to be in a new prime time show? I hope so!

I really wish OLTL had a chance of staying...GH and AMC could go for all I really care.

I've been gaining even more of an appreciation for David Gregory's Ford, lately. Always thought he was hot, but I'm really liking the story with Tess, who I'm just gonna go ahead and say it, is a FAR more entertaining character than Jessica. Actually wish she could stick around as the dominant personality full time. And while we're on the subject of Fords...anyone know if it's true that Nick Robuck(sp) who plays James, is actually openly gay, off-screen. I'd heard things, and I have to say he SOOOOOO pings the gaydar. He's already ridiculously cute, but I think he'd be CRAZY HOT, if he put on a lil' more weight.

Tyler CAN be ridiculously sexy, but sometimes he seems to have this really weird bloating thing going on, and sometimes he freaks me out with the forehead. Definitely agree that he's been wasted over the last couple years.

I missed the majority of the Balkan story, but I don't really mind Siobhan(irish girl). Speaking of The Balkan...I can't BELIEVE how badly they dropped the ball with Vanesssa's return this time around. Aside from them sticking her back with Dimples, I was really excited about her returning. Unfortunately, I've ended up FF'ing through the majority of her scenes.

Vanessa and Ingo(Jax) are leaving in July I think. I'd heard about Tyler, but dunno about anyone else.
