About to lay down again

I hear you. I went through close to ten years with chronic insomnia. Back then, if anyone had suggested I try meditating or a cup of sweet chamomile tea I would have punched them in the neck. I wanted benzos. Truckloads of benzos.

Turns out it was probably my psych meds, so review any meds you are taking.

I take Trazadone to sleep and normally it works well until the cats wake my up at 5 each morning.

But I also sometimes have to take Pregabalin for sciatica and even that didn't work last night and I was awake from about 4 am on....

Hope you get the sleep you need today,

I don't think it is my meds. I think my issue is I have a lot of stuff that acts up when I lay down. Last night it was a facial twitch so that kept me from 100% falling asleep.

When I was a little kid and didn't want to go to bed, my Mom told me you have to go to bed because your body needs to rest. "You don't have to go to sleep, just lay still under the covers and relax. No, you can't read a book." She would let me listen to my 9v transistor AM radio with a little speaker under the pillow.
I usually fell asleep. Sometimes I just lay there for what seems like hours and hours. I'm still that way minus the radio.
Now I listen to the central air. Or the refrigerator. The fridge is not loud but at 1 AM I can hear it from bed. Then there are clocks ticking and for the smiles, dogs snoring.

When my back is achy and I have tension (for lack of a better word) and stiffness across my shoulders, a couple of aspirin at bed time knocks me out.

Take all your clothes off and lay down. I will give you a nice massage that will send you to dreamland.

*dims lights*

*puts on sexual healing song*

I hope you feel better and get some sleep.

So I went to a movie and before the trailers started came home since I was falling asleep. Made it home and slept 6.5 hours. It was nice. Only a bit a waste of time and gas.

If your mind doesn't rest you can try Melissa which is Lemonbalm (Nature's Way). Very mild without any side effects. If that is not strong enough, consider trying melatonin on nights when you are having trouble. Your body naturally produces melatonin. As we age, we create less of it. Which is often a reason why we sleep less as we get older.
