Academy Awards Snoozefest 2011

I thought it was dull in the beginning. I don't know. Even at the pre-show when they were interviewing James Franco, he didn't seem to have that presence...I caught Oprah today. It's nice she was congratulating Hathaway, but she still didn't do that great.

I love watching the Oscar's, but this one did suck. For more than one reason, but I'm not going to get into that.

I found it not much more dull than it usually is. But something was off. James and Anne probably were not such a good idea after all. The rewards were all predictable and not interesting.

But, it was refreshing to have Steven Spielberg give the final award for best picture. I got tired of Jack Nicholson usually doing it before.

I know right!
I kept having to picture James Franco with a ball gag, chained to my basement rafters just so I wouldn't switch the channel, and that only worked part of the time.

I think I may have watched ONE entire Oscar award show in my life. If they are not music based awards they generally bore me to much to sit and watch.

Going from too much entertainment to not enough entertainment, too much humor to practically no humor. The problem with that show is the length of down time. Waiting for the persevered as they walk from backstage is such a waste of time as is listening to some of the more specialized category winners' acceptance speeches.

The show was dull; too many of the jokes fell flat or just didn't get a response.

Paging Mr Gervais... Mr Gervais to the Kodak Theatre, stat.

Boring. Very boring. I caught the beginning and that was enough for me. Whoever scripted it should be fired.

I am happy with the winners though.

And some think James Franco was high or something... He always had the look of someone who did not know what he was doing there...

The only one who made me laugh was Kirk Douglas... And not because of his speech impediment... There was some king of defiance in what he said...

So this is what you do.

Record it.

Whizz through 90% of the acceptance speeches.

Watch it for the beginning bit and the speeches by the icons.

We knocked the show off in about 75 minutes.

I have to say that Franco was an utter disappointment. Hathaway could have handled the show on her own but they need a real pro like Billy Crystal or someone like Ellen.
