Hello Music lovers!

I am seeking some covers done by relatively unknown people of popular music songs.

I LOVE to hear songs being covered, it's the only reason i'll put up with that pretentious twat Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 1...

If you haven't heard John West cover Rihanna's Umberella, it's well worth a nosey.

This is the stuff that i'm after, so if you know of anyone... feel free to post!

Thanks chums!

Both Jo Whiley and the anti-Whiley brigade make me laugh...

I don't really have good internet at the moment but I'll try to remember to post if I do come across something! I quite like covers too but only if they're wildly different from the original.

"Umbrella" is a terrible enough song, and then for people to cover is just... oh god.

The only one that comes to mind is Tori Amos' version of Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" which is an interesting take.

No problem! When I first saw the topic, I thought, "Oh, there are so many of those!" and but then I couldn't come up with anything. :-)

There's also Vanessa Carlton's version of the Rolling Stone's "Time is On My Side". It's a studio version, but it's only her, the piano, and a tambourine. Just so you know.

Even something like Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt", originally by Nine Inch Nails I guess is acoustic. I think it's just him and the guitar.

Oh, and Jamie Cullum's done bunches of covers ranging from the Pussycat Dolls' "Don't Cha" to Justin Timberlake's "Sexyback". He's really cool to see live (which I haven't yet). Pretty much all jazz artists cover songs.

And lastly, there's "Get Your Freak On", the KT Tunstall version of the Missy Elliott song. That right there is saying a lot. Again, it's not entirely acoustic, but it's definitely not overproduced or anything. Definitely worth a listen.

I'll see if I come up with anymore. I hope those are alright for your tastes, youdon'tknow. Let me know which ones you like.

Ben Gibbard (of Death Cab & The Postal Service) does acoustic covers of songs live. just do a search for him. the best are Thriller and Complicated.

the best cover of all time is I've Found A Reason by Cat Power.
