I just got back from seeing "Across the Universe". What a sweet film! There are some darker moments but generally a great trip through the "60's counter-culture" with an outstanding soundtrack of Beatles songs. :=D:

Anyone else seen this yet?
 
It wasn't as flashy as I thought it would be, but it was a good film.
 
I saw it when it was in limited release; was surprised.

Pretty basic storyline, but the music and visual effects brought it to life.

The circus scared the shit out of me, but other than that B+.

I got the 2 disc soundtrack for free and love it.
 
I really enjoyed it, although I felt emotionally drained afterwards... in a good way, though!

The "Across The Universe/Helter Skelter" scene stands out as my favorite. What a brillant sequence!
 
Long time bump, has anyone else seen it now that it's out on DVD. I really enjoyed and thought it was something very different. I probably liked the slower tempo more romantic version of I Want To Hold Your Hand.
 
Across The Universe is one of the most over-rated films of the year! The story is pathetic, the songs don't fit the scenes/story at all, they try to make you cry for characters we never meet in the film, the characters are one sided and bland (and the blonde girl's a whore) and it's too long for such a pathetic movie. If you regularly take acid, then the movie is great, otherwise, save your money and time.

Are you kidding? The songs went perfect with the stories! That was one of the big things walking away from that film. It was just perfect.

Plus being a Beatles fan is also a plus when watching the film. I was a fan of all the songs before the movie so I enjoyed it a lot more than some of my friends that weren't fans of the Beatles.

Overrated? It's surely Underrated!!
