(I posted this as a response to an article on a celeb site, but liked what I ended up saying, so decided to use it as a Blog update here).......
It really annoys me when actors say "I just don't talk about my sexuality". I have no respect for actors who are "Out" in their personal lives and in the background of Hollywood, but do not EVER comment on their sexuality when the cameras are rolling. To not speak about "it", equates it with being "wrong" and shows that those actors are a bit ashamed of their sexuality. They forget that they have fans who look up to them; and if it's obvious that they are gay, but won't admit it.....that sends a message to those fans who might be gay themselves, that being so is wrong and something you should try to hide. They want respect, but want to "fit in"....as if being gay does not allow them to be equals in Hollywood. They give Hollywood/Producers/Agents too much power that they do not really have. If a large group of actors would come together and "come out" around the same time (say, over the space of a few months) then agents and the Hollywood controllers would have no choice but to start promoting the difference between Actors, and the Roles that they play. The problem in Hollywood today, is that Hollywood promotes the actors "AS" their characters, blurring the line between both. But if more actors would put their foot down and show that there is a distinct line between them, then those in charge would have no choice but to follow suit. Actors need to realize that Hollywood sees them as $$$$$$$; and that agents are not looking out for the actors own good....they just want to line their pockets with their money. So, because of this, if enough actors came out, their agents, etc., would not dump them---they want their money, and would have no choice but to "spin" their coming out into a more positive event, in order to keep that money coming in. Over time this would help "being gay" in Hollywood become a non-issue.
