A few years ago I noticed these three little white spots on the head of the penis and around the foreskin. Shortly after that they suffered some trauma (caught them in a zipper) and the foreskin got REALLY tight. It became so tight that to retract it was painful and there were noticeable cuts and wounds that would bleed from where the skin was tearing every time I got an erection. Doctors haven't really been much help but have prescribed topical steroid cream which I used for a couple of months and didn't make any difference.

The next suggestion is either surgery (circumcision) or just live with it how it is. Given that it's quite painful, I don't want to just "live with it".

I'm a little concerned because they mentioned loss of sensation associated with circumcisions late in life (I'm 30) and I don't know how painful/uncomfortable it's going to be after the surgery.

Anybody been through anything similar/have any words of advice/suggestions/etc.? I'm also quite scared I'll have the surgery and it won't completely fix the problem so I might as well have not had the surgery in the first place. I'm in a real dilemma/confusing situation.

Have you tried stretching the foreskin? Used your index fingers (while in the shower!) and just keep stretching it. It's pliable so after time it will loosen up.

Hi guys,

Yes I have been through something similar. When the wounds healed, I tried to stretch my foreskin every day with lube, the wounds came back and this cycle kept on going for years, I had circumcision when I was 34 (about 6 years ago) & I didn't regret it for a day. The circumcision wasn't very painful for me, it's a little bit uncomfortable but once it was healed I forgot the uncomfortable times very fast. In my opinion, sensitivity is different but not less, sometimes I'm still oversensitive. Enjoying sex is something in your mind, not completely what's going on down below. The doctor told me it would fix the problem & it did, so my advice: the sooner the better.

You didn't say which type of doctor prescribed the steroid cream but you're at the point at which you would need to talk to a urologist about your options. What needs to happen next really depends on what type of restriction you have and how far down on your foreskin it is. If it's causing you pain, it is something that you need to address. You shouldn't wait if you're having painful erections- that can be a sign that there is a blood circulation issue and the tearing puts you at risk for infection.

Circumcisions are not always a procedure that removes the entire foreskin unless they are done for religious reasons. Once the urologist examines you and determines what kind of stricture has developed, then you can discuss what the options are. If you do end up deciding to have the circumcision, talk with the surgeon about how much foreskin must be removed. In some cases, the surgery only requires a partial removal to release the stricture.

I had a recurring fungal infection and used Daktarin cream for tinea to treat it. One of the side effects I noticed was a looser foreskin (but not sure why unless the fungus was causing muscle contractions). I did not notice the same effect from other anti-fungal medications, only Daktarin.

There shouldn't be any harm in trying it out to see if it helps in your case, although granted I was able to retract my foreskin fully and liberally apply the cream to both sides.
