Just curious, any advice on finding potential dates online. I'm kind of limited to online dating right now, and I've been posting my pic out there, but haven't had much interest. I've even reached out to a few guys, but no one seems interested. I'm not really looking to jump head first into dating, but just looking for friends that could lead to more down the road, but no one is even given me a chance. I'm just feeling frustrated right now. Any advice guys? :(

It's not just you. Many people are in that situation too, including me. There are a lot of guys online just don't believe in making friend online or step further into something serious. They just don't like to/ or they just want sex.

Unfortunately it's always been like that. Many guys just want sex. I remember turning guys down for sex and being asked why I was at the bar if I didn't want to hook up. Don't give up. When you can join some kind of gay organization, even if it's just for a newsletter.

Yup. don't give up. Try boards that appeal to guys with interests like yours.

Get out there as well and try to connect with live guys too.

Online is a good place to find a guy to fuck, but not so much for finding someone you can really connect with. This isn't to say you CAN'T find someone to connect with online, but it's simpler to do in real life. Why are you stuck online?

The reason I'm kind of stuck online is because right now, due to my circumstances and finances, I'm kind of stuck at home in rural NC living with my parents. My mother knows, but my dad doesn't and is extremely homophobic , so I can't be too "out" around him. I'm somewhat lucky, as we are about an hour from Raleigh, which has a lot colleges, so it's not all hopeless. I do eventually want to move to a bigger city.

I'm just kind of lost where to start looking for a guy. I see all these happy couples and groups online, and just trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I don't even much of a response from anyone, except for older men looking to fuck. I feel a little better after hearing from you guys, that I'm not the only one going through this.

Just don't give up and continue to put yourself out there. My friends and I have been trying for YEARS!

How can you tell when a guy is interested in you online? I was talking to this one guy, who I thought we really "clicked", but then all of a sudden, he gives me the cold shoulder. I haven't had much luck, anywhere else, and I've posted my profile and pics all over the place. This is really frustrating, b/c I don't know what these guys want out of a guy. :(

you do have to meet them as friends to find out if they click.

have you tried outinraleigh.com

Spencer is right - you do have to meet in person to see if you click.

One of the nicest guys I ever dated was someone I met in an AOL chat room about 8 years ago. We chatted off and an for about 6 months before we ever met in person - for a dinner date. In fact, we went on several more dates before it got physical. Sometimes before we met it seemed like he was giving me the cold shoulder, too, but that wasn't the case.

Living in a small town has its challenges, for sure, but don't get discouraged. I'm in rural Virginia (moved back here about 5 years ago), and I was surprised that most people don't care about the gay thing.

I've found that just being active in the community can open doors that you never even knew existed. There is a common misconception that small southern towns are all homophobic, but I find fewer homophobes (a word I hate) here than in any major city I lived in.

doesnt it always work out that when you are looking desrerately for something, you cant find it. just take it day by day, and like most hace said before me, dont take online too seriously only until you've actually met. its true that most guys lie and/or just want sex. look into sites of guys near you or those with the same interest. my bf and i found each other online, but we didnt meet until about month after our first initial contact online.

I think you have the wrong mindset. You can't worry about "what the other guy wants" so you can be that. You are just going to end up miserable that way. Just be yourself, and if someone is interested, great. If not, then you really wouldn't have been happy with him anyway.
