Have you ever bought an cd/album expecting to be really good and after you listened you didn't like it that much?

(I'm talking about your personal opinion of the album)

i don't like:

The Killers - Hot Fuzz (single "somebody told me" catch me but the rest...)

Telepopmusik - Genetic World ("breathe" is cool the rest is not my cup of tea)

What about you?

the last black eyed peas ... i thought "where is the love" song was on it... i hated that phunk song... eeeewwww

Mika's "Life in Cartoon Motion." The current "thing," it's just unbearably cloying and diabetics need to beware: blood sugar levels will spike sharply upon listening!

Jessica Simpson's last album...i mean, I wasn't expecting anything great, but still...

Luckily I always listen to cds in full before I buy them at a local cd store here in Bmore and damn its changed alot about what I buy.

Cassie
Letoya
Ciara (both of them)
Janet Jackson 20YO
Brooke Valentine
Anna Nalick
Jordan Pruitt
Jesse McCartney
Theres prolly more too...

You are crazy! Ciara's evolution and Goodies were both on point! The only thing wrong with Goodies was that she spelled her name too damn much, and on The Evolution of Ciara she just talks way too damn much, but thats it, they both rock!

Convicted-Akon...i do like a few songs on it but overall its not really something that i plan on rushing to listen to anytime soon.

Taylor Hicks-i mean its ok and i wasnt going in with great expectations but this one just didnt really move me at all.

Beyonce - B'Day. I was a huge fan last time around, but this album seriously stank. Irreplaceable and Get Me Bodied were hot though.

I can't think of anymore off the top of my head.

Here are CDs by artists I like, but I didn't like...

Duran Duran - Astronaut

So the band's original members reunite, they go through three producers, work for a year, and come up with...a bunch of OK album tracks? And a couple that aren't even THAT good?

Art of Noise - The Seduction of Claude Debussy

Again, original members reunite (with Lol Creme, which should've made the thing even better) and come out with...a pretentious concept album without any hooks.

Gary Numan - Jagged

It took five years, three producers, and three complete "let's start over"s to come up with...fourteen songs that sound PRECISELY the same. I mean that sincerely - I've listened to the CD three times all the way through, and I can't tell any of the songs apart. Every last one starts with a keyboard wash, has a quiet verse, then a loud chorus, then...

Prince - Rainbow Children

Not his worst album (that's New Power Soul) but his most aggrievating. After coasting for several years, he finally sounded like he was trying. The music is great - sounds like early 1970s funk/jazz fusion. The songs are great. The lyrics...well, Prince occasionally dabbled in bizarre pseudo-religious imagery, but he goes whole hog into it here. A bizarre mixture of barely-understood Egyptian/Middle Eastern theology crossed with his newly found Jehovah's Witness beliefs. Thus leaving us with an album that sounds great but makes absolutely no sense to anybody but its creator.

Kenna - Make Sure They See My Face

Pre-emptive. It doesn't come out until June. I loved Kenna's first album New Sacred Cow. I just got a sampler disc featuring two songs from the new album, plus one bonus track. The only song I like at all - the bonus track. That doesn't bode well.

Stone Roses - Second Coming

Bon Jovi - Crush (only ever liked 2 of their songs)
Manic Street Preachers - Everything Must Go (no idea why I bought it)
Marc Anthony - Marc Anthony (full of fillers, the worst album out of the latin explosion in 1999)
Metallica - ... And Justice For All (why did I get it? pure noise, won't listen to it again)
Sam Roberts - We Were All Born In A Flame (singles were great, the whole album is too Canadiana to me lol)
Spice Girls - Forever (pretty lame except for the singles)
The Killers - Sam's Town (a bit disappointing really compared to the genius Hot Fuss)
The Velvet Underground - The Best of the VU (another obscure purchase a la Metallica, totally out of my league, I should stay away from any music pre-1990)
TLC - Fanmail (hmm bought it cuz the pirate cd seller recommended, shoulda known betta)
VA - Garden State soundtrack (don't know but I just can't get into it...)
VA - Moulin Rouge soundtrack (Lady Marmalade fooled me!)
VA - The Talented Mr. Ripley soundtrack (the instrumentals sound scary lol)

This is the list of the CDs I still have, I gave away or sold some others I didn't like...

Christina Aguleria - Back to basics
Destinys child - Destiny Fulfilled
