Ok...so I'm going through an Alien's rampage. I'm download all of the movies and watching all of them again. I just fucking love them! The 1st movie is still the best one but I love all of the 4 movies. The last movie also has really interesting aspects to it. I just love the various symbolisms present in the movies...many of it deals a lot with maternity...ever since the 1st movie and it's interesting how they've presented that aspect of maternity differently from movie to movie. Like in the 1st movie remember the computer being called Mother? And whenever they needed guidance they'd turn to the computer Mother. And in the last movie, the son turning against the mother (the "bi-racial" alien who killed the Alien Queen after her giving birth to him) and his clearly strong emotional connection with Ripley, recognizing her as his real mother...I don't remember the scene very well but I think it was because of her smell...and that's very accurate 'cause one of the main factors babies recognize their mothers is through their smell.

Obviously, movies about motherhood, maternity and conception isn't an original concept but the WAY they presented the idea is fantastically done IMO. Very creative.
 
Yeah and the degree of fear or dread that the movies induced also changed. The first two movies had several scenes that scare and creep you out. The 3rd one, not so much but rather a feeling of intense danger...yes, intense and anxious is probably what best describe it...the whole labyrinthical scene of the "mouse chase game" in the corridors, almost claustrophobic wich enhanced the feeling of anxiety. The 4th one, none of the mentioned above...more explorative.


P.S.: There is a reason why I didn't include the AVP movies in the OP. ;)

Love the first 3. I like to pretend 4 didnt happen.

Obviously, the first 2 are classics, but I think 3 is under-rated. Dismissed upon release, its worth a revisit. Very stylish, and it delivers clammy tension and claustrophobia.
 
Wow some major themes I never really looked at I just loved the 1st 2 and after watching the 3rd it has now grew on me. Cameron played on maternity in the 2nd film with Newt and Ripley one thing that defeats everything in the universe is a love a mother has for its child Ripley shows this and in turn makes her such a strong character 4 was bad except for Weaver and Ron pearlman they both rock as does the mad scientist whoes name I cannot think of.

Anyway I so wanna watch the extened 1st film I still haven't got around to it yet but I will.

And Weaver was amazing in these movies. I mean, she's always been very solid and consistent in her performances. She's a fantastic actress!

Alien is def. the best one

Aliens Is Amazing too. More action packed than the first one

Alien 3 is my personal favorite, i watched the original version, that was about half hour longer than the released one. And i just think its amazing

Alien Ressurection was also good imo, but it lacked something the first three had.

Prolly some of my favorite movies of all time..
 
And what about the dialogues? Some lines are so damn good!

I love this one on Alien 3, wich I'm watching as of this moment (just took a break), this dude was talking about existential issues concerning humanity:

I don't know why you put blames on everybody for everything...nobody's perfect, only human. There's no such thing as a perfect human. In an insane world...a sane man must appear insane...

And the way the actor delivered the lines was really great! Love it! And I specially also love how sarcastic Ripley is here. This is one of my favorite lines of hers:

Ripley: Don't we have flashlights?
Dude (didn't pay attention to his name): Yeah we've got thousands but no batteries! Look I told you...nothing works!
Ripley: *sarcastic tone* Torches? Do we have the capacity to make fire? Most humans have enjoyed that privilege since the stone age... *gives him the look*
Dude: No need to be sarcastic.

I'm ashamed to admit it but I've never seen single Aliens or Predator movie but have seen the Alien VS Predator movies. lol...

One day I'll have to do an Alien's marathon the movies look good.

OK, so I just finished watching all four Alien films and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

I was confused by number four though, with the "Queen" having developed a human womb as "Ripley's gift" so how were the eggs all over the place?

And I hate the facehuggers - they make me cringe all over.
 
I love Aliens and the franchise.

A couple of years ago they had a marathon of all 4 movies. Me and my friend skipped school early to go see them. Totally got busted for skiving off, but it was worth it.
 
Sigourney Weaver was amazing! Everything about her performance was just amazing.
