American bathroom..?

How does one flush that toilet?
Is the chain so short it's out of shot at the top of the picture?
And I see a liftable lid, but no hinged seat section.

Flush mechanism looks like a little handle on the side you can't see. It's called a 'low profile' toilet. The seat/lid is 2 pieces of molded plastic, the lid hides the seat, not unlike the photo in the post above ^^.

You wash your hands in the lavatory???

Then go figure, on aircraft the toilet and teeny tiny sink compartment is also referred to as the 'Lavatory.' English is so weird.

Since less than half of Americans own a gun, I wouldn't think that those who do would be representative of "Americans" any more than Londoners of Pakistani descent, as British citizens, would be seen as eating an "English breakfast" when sitting down to Halwa Puri.

Are they English? Yes. Are they Brits? Yes. Is their cuisine part of a multiculural diversity in the UK? Yes. Is their cuisine seen as "British" by the majority of Brits or by the world? No. They are a minority, seen as a constituent subpopulation of a colonial power.
