America's Got Talent

When Ryan auditioned for America's Got Talent, she chose the Jennifer Holliday Dreamgirls showtune "And I'm Telling You (I'm Not Going)," surprising the crowd and the judges with her powerful voice. Brandy gave Bianca a standing ovation and called her "my favorite contestant in this competition." Piers Morgan, critical of Ryan's age-appropriate appearance, told Ryan to change her hair, dress and shoes, "and you will win this tournament. ... You came on this stage, and you blew us away!" David Hasselhoff called her "a star" and called for the audience to "get on your feet for this girl!"[10]

Ryan's first appearance on Talent became one of the most popular videos on YouTube, an online video archive partly owned by NBC.[1]

She sang "Piece of My Heart", barefoot, a la Janis Joplin, at the semifinals, but none of the judges was impressed with Ryan's musical choice; Brandy said, "You were born to do this ... but ... I liked the song selection better the first time," while Hasselhoff felt that style was "not going to get you through (the competition)." Still, she was announced as the viewers' choice that week and moved on into the finale round and a chance at the US$1 million prize.

For her finals song, Ryan returned to Dreamgirls and the Holliday number "I Am Changing". She worked with gospel singer Yolanda Adams, who said there was little she could teach Ryan that she didn't already possess. Following the performance, Morgan praised Ryan for her appearance and song choice, saying "I think you're going to win the competition." Hasselhoff said she reminded him of Liza Minnelli and how she "affects people, and makes them get up and makes them feel things," and told Ryan, "you truly are the best in this competition."

The show's finale results aired on August 17, 2006, during which Ryan was announced as the winner of the first season of the show. The announcement left her in shock (when asked by host Regis Philbin how she felt, Ryan said, "I don't even know!"), brought Hasselhoff to his feet and moved Brandy to tears; Morgan later told NBC 10 (Philadelphia) that "the most talented person won."

On August 24, 2006, Ryan announced on her website that she had flown to New York to meet with representatives from a "major record label" and some of the recording industry's top songwriters.

ya...she gave me chills..i can't believe a 11 y.o girl with THAT voice... i love the first song better than the other two...

Whoa!! She is crazy awesome! I had never seen her before. Still have chills in my spine. Just imagine 10 years from now.:=D: :=D: :=D:

Did anyone notice in the "I'm Not Going" clip, the old man in the red hat in audience doing the "crazy" circular hand to the head motion just before Bianca starts singing?

I wonder if Piers may have inadvertently started what might become her trademark - singing barefooted...? In the second clip, she really does look like a young Janis Joplin... long red hair, barefooted...

I wasn't familiar with the last song and I found the lyrics and watched it again. With the lyrics, now that I understand what she's saying... WOW! :=D:

Listen to it again; the song starts at 1:50:

Look at me
I am changing, tryin' every way I can
I am changing, I'll be better than I am
But I need a friend to help me start all over again.
Oh, that would be just fine!
I know it's gonna work out this time
'Cause this time I am
This time I am

I am changing, gonna get my life together now
I am changing, yes, I know how
I'm gonna start again, I'm gonna leave my past behind
I'll change my life
I'll make a vow
And nothing's gonna stop me now!

I was betting on rappin granny

oh well

While I can't fault her for her singing, I think she's extremely scary...

Great voice on that girl. Great voice.

But seriously, reality tv sucks.

Well, Hollywood sure knows how to slutify a young girl when they want to. She looks a lot different than from what I can remember. Didn't she used to wear jean overalls??

Fantastic voice however.

The video I posted back in August of Bianca singing "I Am Changing" has been removed. Here's another video of that performance:

And a longer version of the "Piece of My Heart" video:

She sounds OK. But I must say, I did not like that rendition of The Rose.
