Anal for Beginners

So, I am newish to exploring my sexuality - having played a few times over several decades - and new to this site as of a couple days ago. Great site! Love it. And love seeing the eye candy and reading all the healthy discussion.

Here's the thing - I have never done anal - given or taken. The thought of it always disgusted me. Not because of the act, bit because of - well, the sh*t. I am now a little more integrated into the gay sex world and feel I might want to try it sometime. But, the thought of having someone playing with my ass and somehow having a sh*tty leak or wet fart just makes me not want to risk it. I would be so embarrassed and disgusted by myself.

And the same would go for giving anal. Aside from douching - I am not all that sure how to do that - what is the reality out there about this. Does it happen? How frequently? Spontaneous anal doesn't allow for getting up and douching and getting back into it.

Hopefully there will be some informative discussion on this as I think I want to try anal, but the ick factor is getting in the way.

Normally, just taking a shower and sticking in a soapy finger is more than enough. There is no need for anything else.
A leak or wet fart is something you should be able to feel before it happens and are easy to avoid. Will it eventually happen where either you or your partner has an accident, likely so, but you shouldn’t let fear of it happening stop you from enjoying yourself.
Simply avoid it on an upset stomach like you would most any other activity and you will be fine.

Thanks @justright25! Good to know. I guess it is a reality that this happens, and not generally anyone's fault. And an understanding partner is a requirement.

I haven’t done anal with a person, but I have used a few toys on myself to “test the waters” so to speak. I’ve never douched (probably would if I was meeting up with a guy) but I always use toys after I was “empty” if you know what I mean, and i rinsed myself off in the shower. And I’ve never had a problem with mess!

Like justright25 said, I’ve heard mess WILL happen eventually, so if/when it does, just gotta realize it’s a part of it!
