anyone here have any experience with it wart causing hpv?
my doctor is very vague and general and oddly evasive with my questions.
do you just have anal warts come and go for the rest of your life? she kept saying it is the most common std and yada yadda blah blah blah seems like the worst thing ever, since you cant really ever have sex again unless you meet someone that thinks warts are the super sexy. am i missing something here???? blehhhhh

huh?

1. HPV is about the least serious STD there is. Most people that have it don't even show any symptoms ever. Far from the "worst thing ever".

2. If you get warts, you just need to get them removed. Sometimes they will come back but not usually. According to the CDC most people with healthy immune systems get rid of the HPV virus within 2 years, so it certainly shouldn't affect you for the rest of your life.

I agree. Totally. Change physicians. Mind you, she was possibly trying to scare you into being ‘more careful’. But, condoms do not protect against anal warts.
Although HPV has been linked to cervical cancer, or, more precisely, certain strains of HPV have been linked, most strains cause warts. There is no evidence to date that HPV infection is linked to anal cancer. Warts come back after removal, but the fact that you have warts is a very good prognosis. The strains involved in cervical cancer cause ‘flat warts’ which are not easily seen and don’t project outwards. And yeah, it is most likely the easiest STI to treat with the least consequences.

If using a condom helps protect you from HIV Hepatitis C and numerous
other std,s . Please excuse my ignorance why if you are wearing a condom
does it not help protect you from the HPV virus ?

Because it is highly contagious. You can get it from just touching, kissing, etc.

Those other things you will usually only contract through exchange of bodily fluids.

I also updated the sticky that Corny referenced to indicate that the HPV immunization has been approved for men. And it is recommended for prevention of anal cancers linked to HPV.

Yes HPV is highly contagious and so many people dont even know that they have
it . Then again you could say the same thing about Hepatitis C .
I was trained that if you have sex then you use a condom.
Hepatitis C can also be caught without sexual contact i do know where you are
coming from and i agree with most of what you have posted .
Though you should always wear a condom, i know that quite a few guys are into
barebacking and if that is there choice and they disclose their status to their
partner then it is their choice and even if you do not agree you have to respect
their choice one thing we dont have yet are the sex police (thank god).

Corny i said hepatitis c because that is what i meant you can get it from someone elses toothbrush razor ect. Remember that hep c can lay dormant but still
infectious for weeks outside the host body .
I may just have qualified 11 months ago so yes i do still have loads to learn
but 1 thing i am positive about is that.

just thought because of hep c being transmitted through blood and hep b being also transmitted through saliva ..

I can speak from experience because I have (or had) anal HPV.

I got it about 4 years ago, and I had anal warts for about a year. They went away, and I haven't seen any since. I've read that often, your immune system (if healthy) will suppress the virus to the point of virtual non-detection. Though it would still be a good idea to use condoms.

Anal warts may seem like the worst thing ever, but they're really not. And they'll probably go away on their own.

this woman makes no sense. today i asked her if they would eventually go away on their own and she said YES. then a few sentences later she said "dont let them get worse or it will take AN ACT OF CONGRESS to remove them"
wwwwwwwwhat?
and it takes her like an entire minute to BLINK.
i think my doctor is crazy?????????

It depends, sometimes they get worse and need to be removed. Sometimes they just go away.
