Hi All,

I've had a anal skin tag for many years now. Though it has gotten slightly bigger over the years, it has never gotten in the way of fun. When I asked my primary care physician about it in the past, he's said to leave it alone because recovery is most likely quite painful and it's really not anything to worry about in particular. This has been good advice up until now that I'm newly single and quite self conscious about it.

- Has anyone had one removed and have first hand info on recovery?

Thanks and Happy New Year!

Ok I know how disgusting this will sound but here goes...My mom had one that she had removed on her upper inner thigh due to back issues I had to change the dressing on it. She was fine it did bleed some but not profusely she did need to keep it covered in vaseline and a bandaid for 2 weeks. This might be difficult to do in your ass though depending on where it is crack or under cheek would most likely be easier than say between the cheeks or on the ring itself. On another note are you sure it is not a hemorrhoid?

I have a tag/mole on my back and have an appointment in mid April with a view to having it lazered away - that may be an option for you

ShadowCat, the Dr. confirmed it's a skin tag and not a hemorrhoid.

Nealm1, The one GI specialist office I spoke with told me they chop it off, not laser. You would think laser would make for a quicker recovery, so curious how that works out for you.

Thanks!

I had 5 small skin tags removed from various places several weeks ago. They were pretty small and her assistant cut them off with small scissors. Nothing else was needed and they healed in a few days. I am guessing that these were much smaller than whatever you are talking about.

Did you ever encounter issues with a guy that wanted to rim you and then he saw the skin tag?
Did you get it removed?

Sorry I can' answer your question yet, saw the doc and the actual zapping isn't until tomorrow (all delayed by covid). Will let you know afterwards.

Fallinlove, haven’t dealt with it since everything is shut down. Haven’t had the opportunity yet to find out if someone will be freaked out by it. :(. Nealm1, thanks, let me know how it goes.

Hi Madi, just back from the docs. Doc said there may be more of a slight scar with a chop than with a lazer. The doc applied localised anaesthetic with a needle, then zapped. The moles are gone (including a tag) and there is like a small cigarette burn, which should heal naturally in the next ten days. There was no pain, just a smell of burning skin. Three moles done in 5 minutes.

One thing is though whenever I have damaged a mole in the past, the pain has been intense, so wonder if the chop is also more painful as nerves must be left below skin level?

By the way, my partner had a skin tag on his eyelid and we got rid of it using apple cider vinegar.

I have removed a small one from my groin area the same way and it worked a charm.

Otherwise, you can also get Dr. Scholl's skin tag remover if you are prone to getting them.

Really interesting. My next project is a cyst behind an ear and am waiting for a call from the docs office on that. Any suggestions?
