did anyone tune into the updated 'andromeda strain' on a&e tonight?

it was part one of two and i thought it was pretty good.

Yeah I just finished watching it with a friend. I was really pleased with it. Was not expecting such a good movie but it was really well done. I can't wait for the second part tomorrow!

DAMN! I meant to record that and I forgot. I guess I'll have to hope they rerun it.

I saw part one tonight and feel it lacks the tension of the original. Why Hollywood seems to believe that every good movie of the past needs to be remade is quite beyond me.:grrr::mad:

oh i'm sure they will. a&e tends to repeat everything!

not to mention the fact they are already selling the dvd on their website!

I am watching it as I type this, because it was filmed in and around my town. I didn't see any of them locally but Ricky Schroeder did eat at a local restaurant where the stars seem to go when the film in the area. He pays a gay character in this mini series.

It was so good!!! I loved the book and the old one, and this "updated" one is very good... can't wait for the second part in a few hours!

Saw part one last night and getting ready to watch part two now.

So far, so good. It is staying close to the book and orginal movie but have updated it. The reporter story line is interesting but very real in todays 24/7 news channel world. Thought the story line about the lab and decon was weak compared to the orginal and is one of the areas that I think it missed the mark on.

i just finished watching part 2.

good stuff! i liked the mini as a whole and will probably by the dvd!

Yea. I found a repeat Saturday May 31, Part 1 at 7:00 and Part 2 at 9:00 (central time).

I only saw part one. Did they mention Ricky's character being gay in 1 or 2. I don't remember it being in one. I hated his character for the most part. I hated his character in 24 too. He seems to like playing these insensitive military guys who shoot first and ask later. I know Ricky is a conservative Republican IRL who still supports Bush.

There's only a brief mention of it. The Viola Davis character (the female doctor who has a family) is talking to him about relationships and asks him. At first he sort of ducks the issue then he says, "If you don't ask, I won't tell." He then says something relating to the military mistrusting gays (though the word "gay" isn't used) but then they make him the key person to stop the destruction of the complex. That was mentioned in part one when he comments on being single (which in itself could be a clue that he's gay.)
