Along those lines, does anyone remember how old Ruby Keeler was in the 1971 revival of No, No, Nanette? She was a dancin' fool--- and, as I recall, was well past normal retirement age!! (!)

Angela Lansbury (age, 20 years old) in her role of Sibyl Vane from the 1945 film The Picture of Dorian Gray singing Little Yellow Bird.

Forty years later in 1985, during the second season of Murder She Wrote for an episode entitled Sing A Song Of Murder, the plot required Ms. Lansbury to sing a song. Someone suggested that she sing Little Yellow Bird and she readily agreed to do it. Here she is (age 60) singing Little Yellow Bird.

OH MY GOD I LOVE THIS THREAD!!! Where have all you guys been hiding?!

^^^ Um - I'm at a loss as to what this post means, sorry.
But I'll take it as some sort of compliment!

There are certain celebs with strong ties to the UK and USA who seem to be comfortable speaking in a manner that can be interpreted as British or American or a pleasing combination of both.
Ms Lansbury and Elizabeth Taylor immediately come to mind, but there are many more.
I'm no expert, but to me Canadians write ala Britannia, but speak more like Americans with certain British inflections.
I respect actors from English speaking countries who not only learn lines and emote effectively, but can do so in the accent of the role's nationality. It's just an remarkable, additional talent.
I've heard Angela Lansbury speak parts effectively as an American and an English woman.
She is a legend for her comedic, musical and dramatic roles.
