What set him off? The article doesn't say what his beef was.

Regardless of his 'beef', he should be shot clear and simple. There is NO justification in this world for putting children in harms way.

Another prime example of why it should be next to impossible to get a gun.

I am SO tired of people thinking that the only way to solve their problems or air their grievances is with deadly force. Why don't they just do the world a favor and off themselves instead of holding the world (or whomever) hostage for their deranged (sp?) conceptions?

I realize that the above statement is SO un-PC, but this is just too much!

(really tired of the whole PC-thing too and being held hostage by it for fear of offending someone! Heaven forbid!)

T-Zero, I hope you don't think that in any way I was implying that you condoned his actions... that was not my intent at all.

Here is an update from the local paper.

Report: hostage wounded.

Parents picking up their children at Deer Creek Elementary School said they were told the man was looking for a teacher at the school who was either an ex-girlfriend or an estranged wife.

I won't look at the news pictures or watch TV. I was a Freshmen in high school about 20 minutes north of Columbine High School when the shootings occured there. It is a bit too much of a reminder.

Unfortunate news. The critically wounded girl has passed away in St. Anthony's Hospital in Denver. Condolences to her family and friends. Why do these deranged individuals have to take out their anger on children? It's such a stupid and needless loss of life.

I remember watching the events of Columbine unfold as they happened, reported online, as we worked that day. Groups of people were clustered around monitors, reading online news accounts and comforting each other. It was hard to believe that it could happen, and so close by, but it was real.

It's terrible to see someone put all those precious young lives at risk.

Pray for peace.

How a 53/4 year old man who lives in his truck can get into a school - and with weapons - in nearly 2007 is pretty amazing.

My highschool didn't have any type of security at all - anyone could come in or out as they pleased.

Even at my college, we don't have any REAL security at all - no metal detectors or anything like that.

Also around here, lots of people ride around with gun racks in their trucks, with shot guns and such on them, usually loaded - It's not that amazing to me...
