So I watched the 2006 VMAs tonight, and once again I was extremely disappointed with the show overall. Is it just me or does it seem like they whipped up the show in two weeks or less??? I felt it was very unprepared and 97% of the performances were very underwhelming. Oh well, I don't know why MTV always gets me hyped for the show and once again it failed to live up to all the hype. Stupid me for falling for it once again. What did everyone think of the show overall?? ](*,) :-({|=

The only performance that I love was Christina Aguilera's Hurt. I think she's the only one who had a decent performance in that show. I love how the stage builded up through the whole song, her dress and how emotional she got while singing.

In the voice of Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons: "Worst VMA's EVER"

I remember when I was growing up, lets say 91-99 that the VMA's were the "biggest thing in music" even becoming more meaningful to the fans then the Grammy's. However I swear for some reason, the last good year was....... hmm what came later Blink-182 closing out the show one year or Guns N Roses closing out the show. Which ever one was more recent, was the last good one. Jesus Christ, I still remember all the hype for the 99 vma's because of all the 9:9:99 advertisements in NYC.

Tonight the CROWD WAS DEAD. But why not? There wasn't much to cheer for at all. Even the ammount of star power was very noticible. None of the commedy or jokes by anyone worked AT ALL. Wayyyyy too much LypSyncing they sounded terrible. There was not one MOMENT. I was shocked to see Axel Rose come out at the end but all he did was Introduce the Killers, and what the fuck is up with the Killers singer rocking a "moustache".

ARGH............ just pull the plug on the show. There's no music on MTV anymore and its been a slow death for the past few years. Production quality was awful, writing was awful, music was awful. Hell VH1 and the country channel put on better award presentations. I never thought I'd say that I'd rather watch the Grammy's.

You know, I actually kinda enjoyed this year's VMAs. I'm not sure that's saying much compared to the last 2 years in Miami -- those were a couple of suckbombs.

I'll have to discard all of the rap performances (with the exception of Missy's. Always cool to see old school Missy), but I really liked Beyonce's, The Killers, and JT's performances. I have to say my favorite was OK Go. That treadmill shit was cool (and I now have a huge crush on the drummer. He's so hot!). Everything else was underwhelming to me. Panic at the Disco?...meh.

Some of the audience reactions were fun too. Snoop looked he wanted to kill the Pussycat Dolls and Kanye looked shocked that he lost to James Blunt.

But I have to ask, what was the point of Jack Black hosting? He was barely even there, and he did a much better job at the Movie Awards a few years back. I have to admit that I really liked Sarah Silverman, and I never really thought she was funny before. Her bit on Lance Bass was classic.

THE SHOW WAS AWFUL..

WTF has happen to hip hop??? All I hear is about money, b*tches, and how many cars they have. I WANT OLD SCHOOL HIP HOP BACK!!! Although we did get to witness a video of some cool hip hop stuff back in the day....and Missy is always great.

JT's was ok...Christina and Beyonce were good. The rest sucked!!

Yea, I just turned on MTV and caught the "Video of the Year" award. It was so sad. There wasn't anything to pick from. They were playing the clips of the nominees and one of the videos was Madonna just dancing around. I had never even heard of the winner. Disco Kids or something. WTF? Now Axl Rose just introduced some band called The Killers. Who are these people? I have heard of some of the band names, but I wouldn't recognize their faces or "music". Oh yea, and John Norris looks like hell. He needs a haircut. Music started dying in the late '90s. I would say about '97.

Aqua (Barbie Girl), Chumbawamba (Tubthumping), Marcy Playground (Sex and Candy)............so many crappy groups started popping up and then quickly disappearing, but not before they left their ugly mark on music. Disposable junk.

I hope I didn't offend anyone by naming their "favorite group" or anything, but I feel really bad for the people here that are too young to really remember the '90s.

It really was an awesome time.

IT WAS HORRIBLE. Bring back the ENTERNAINMENT value!

And STOP giving Kelly Clarkson awards over more experienced & honed performers!

UGH.

Horrible...just horrible. Usually in the past, the big part of the show is the opening act. I like Justin Timberlake...but is that it? I remember they would have numerous acts colloborating. It just seemed that this was thrown together by a high school theatre group, and the post vma show was just dreadful.

I knew last night would turn out to be lackluster, which is why I didnt even bother to watch it.

I normally dont care for VMA's, but didnt last night have the worst audience/crowd ever!? They seemed so disconnected with the ppl on stage... I felt bad for Christina's performance cuz it was out of place with that show and honestly it was far from one of her best performances.

I agree the VMA"S weren't really that good BUT there were some higlights for me

Fall Out Boy wining Viewer's Choice

Panic! at the Disco winning video of the year(and performing)

The Killers winning.

The Pussycat dolls winning best dance video.

Everything else Sucked!

Oh Yeah and ThreePointShooter I Remember the 90's :D

I forgot to mention. Best Ringtone? WTF?! Someone should've told the Fort Minor guy that he won a VMA for the crappiest category ever, not the Nobel Peace Prize. Sit the fuck down.

Okay Im not the person to say this really because Im not the biggest fan of her but....

The VMAs need Britney Spears

She cant sing for shit but she knows how to put on a kick ass performance. From her stripping to the flesh colored suit singing "Oops I Did It Again", to her dancing with a snake half naked singing "Im A Slave 4 U", to her locking lips with Madonna in 2003. Britney makes the VMA's enjoyable. You always remember her performances and everyone always talks about it. You can 100% hate and still agree she knows how to out on a show and dont lie either, you know its true.

Lol ur right. Without Britney the VMAs are no fun.

Im yet to see them... Im sure Ill catch it sometime this weekend.

Britney had a little cameo that was supposed to be funny but it just didn't work.

I actually enjoyed the show more than the past 2 years when they went to Miami. I liked the performances except for Panic at the Disco. I like them but their performance has to be the worst I've ever seen.

The winners were really bad though. Christina once again left empty handed and the nominees for Video of the Year barely came out with anything. That's what happens when you let the public vote for every single category. Which brings me to the "Viewer's Choice Award". Since they made the public vote for every single category, then doesn't that mean that they're all viewers choice?

I liked Justin's performance, however, the energy was lost in the middle when they started SexyBack. I liked Beyonce's performance too but Christina's was my favorite. It was just a different feel from everybody else performing and she outclassed everyone that went on that stage. I still wish she would've sung "Candyman" though.

There were a lot of funny moments too. Missy getting hit in the head with the umbrella and one of Ludacris' backup dancers falling off the stage. Pink thinking she's better than everyone and then making an ass out of herself on stage. One thing that wasn't funny: Jack Black. He was painful.

One thing that bugged me a lot was Paris Hilton waving to everybody when she came out.

^^^

That's weird because most people say the years in Miami were horrible. But whatever. I still think they need Britney there, not live via satelite (even though it wasnt live)

That's actually what I meant. !oops! LOL. Sorry, I didn't proofread. And I can't edit it anymore. But yeah, I enjoyed the most recent VMAs more than the ones that were held in Miami.

Oh and another thing that I thought was very funny was when Christina was standing right beside the audience and someone was gonna touch her dress and immediately she pulled the dress and moved. I don't know if she actually saw the girl was trying to touch her or she just wanted to move but it looked really funny.
