Antiperspirants

Why dont you try out a deodrant like axe for example? antiperspirant are not really good for you as they clog up your sweat ducts. Deodrant are like a sort of perfume for men and they are just used to hide the smell of sweat, wouldnt clog your ducts, and wouldnt leave nasty stains on your shirts. I have been spraying deodrant on my shirt for a number of years now with no staining.

Depending on the environment, an antiperspirant might be a better choice.

Use somthing in a stick form (no drying time required) and one that glides on clear (no white residue, hence no staining on shirts).

The gilette range has a few.

I am not sure if this thread belongs here but...
I ve been using Lynx antiperspirant roll-on deodrant for years and I ve notice that stains slowly develope on my shirts in the armpit area. I am a very clean person, shower atleast once everyday and naturally don't sweat much in the first place.

Could you guys recommend any brands that don't this? I'll be going to Korea for 5 months as an exchange student and I ve been told to stock up on antiperspirants since its practically non existent there.

one thing you could do is shave your armpits, this way there is nothing there that could harbor bacteria. korea should have anti perspirants/deodorants-called different names than what you got know in perth. have dry 'pits while in korea:wave:

I use right gaurd xtreme gel anti-perspirant deodorant. It works well and is inexpensive.

I don't know if would hold out on some kim chi. Spicy food makes me sweat like a pig  . Have a great time on your exchange trip.

i know what you're talking about Kmori168. i also get the armpits stains even though i'm also a very clean person. it isn't a matter of the deordorant/antiperspirant getting on the shirt, it's a chemical reaction with the aluminum compound in it. i read in men's health one time a bunch that don't have the aluminum, I just haven't been able to find one without it

Yellow stains are a result of the aluminum zirconium tricholorhydrex GLY, its an anhydrous chemical that absorbs water and makes antiperspirants work. You won't find any without them. As far as memory problems such as Alzheimer's as related to aluminum; that study has been debunked years ago. Its simple chemistry friends..gotta love the stuff.:=D:

YES!! this is exactly right!! and I wish I had known about it when I was a teenager!! Just use Deoderant and a nice body spray and undershirts...jsut like your grandfather used to...youll be fine. and you wont have those yucky yellow stains on your whites and blues!!

nothing hotter than a nice looking guy in an undershirt anyway!!

I haven't been to korea but to many places in asia. Don't let anyone panic you. It's stupid to waste valuable luggage space on soaps, deodorants and clothing. You can get everything you need over there.

If this staining has just started recently then try to determine what has changed:
  • different ingredients in your old anti perspirant
  • you started wearing more synthetics
  • dietary changes
  • hormonal changes making you perspire more

Applying alcohol or other astringent to the area will cause the pores to shrink, minimizing perspiration.

I'm using Right Gaurd clear stick I believe. I always used to use "clear stick" white stick deoderants and once I shaved my arm pits and discovered the nasty layer of deoderant buildup I switched to a true clear stick. Now I've got arm pits as sexy as most chicks and there is no white chalky shit anywhere to be found.

You tried using a spray that doesnt leave white marks? I know Addidas make one.
The best antiperspirant by far has to be Right Guard, if you read the bottle and do as it says then you shouldnt get marks at all (atleast I don't).
Not sure how people use roll-ons or sticks if they don't shave under their arms.

Axe = Lynx just different branding for different countries.
Deoderants are not the answer here, if you do start to sweat your natural "musk" (or BO as it sits their) will not mix well with the deodernt you've used and can make the smell worse.

Not sure if anyone else has had this problem but if I spray deoderant on to dark cotton t'shirts (following a similer spray line every time) the t'shirt will slowly fade along the area I've sprayed which becomes noticable after a few months >_<'

What do you mean by stains btw? Like just wet patches or an actual coloured stain as a result of your sweat. I do know you can go to a cosmetic surgery and have them put something into your sweat glands under your arms to stop them from sweating completely.

I haven't found anything except a roll-on that doesn't leave your pits white (and worked well), and therefore stain your shirts.

I just deal with the staining by stain sticking it occasionally before washing the shirt. What works even better is ammonia. Granted, it smells.

I'm not a fan at all of just deodorant--A cotton shirt with just deodorant will get wet--very much so.

Ya' know ... My doctor has told me that the SAFEST way is to use a talc or body powder with cornstarch in it .. I use the wal mart brand and it is less expensive and no stains or other problems ..
