I absolutely love the Arctic Monkeys. I'm a big fan..

Alex turner writes the best lyrics and the most awesome tunes. Oh how those notes are arranged is just amazing.

So, if anyone out there shares the same love for this band I would like to know who you are and what song are you currently addicted to?

Right now I'm listening to Too Much to Ask, if you haven't heard it, go search youtube because it's just awesome.

Me! AM fan here!

"Only Ones Who Know" and "Teddy Pickers" are my favorite songs of the 2nd album. But the whole album is good..."Brainstorm," "Balaclava," "Fluorescent Adolescent," "Do Me A Favour," "The Bad Thing," "505"....

The frist album was good too. I really liked "Mardy Bum" and "A Certain Romance."

I've only a heard a few, well two, of their songs...

But I'm going to look into the album when I have the chance/cash.

Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not

The debut album from Sheffield's Arctic Monkeys, "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not" was released on 23 January 2006 and became the fastest selling album in the UK since records began. It won the Mercury Prize that year, and went on to sell 360,000 copies in the UK.

You can listen to this entire album here:

Or the album with additional commentary from either the band itself or other artists influenced by them here:

The album is played unedited so there may be some foul language or offensive content so be advised if you think you are likely to be offended! Its free by the way.

Oh cool, People who love them!

Yeah, I've got all their albums, and since I got to discover them, there is not one day (I think) that I didn't listen to any one of their tracks.. Oh my.
Defo one of the best bands.

So, just interested, what are your thoughts on Pete Doherty?
Baby Shambles? libertines?

I personally like em... I love his songs / writing. He's quite a poet really, and yeah I did watch this documentary that he could have been one great poet, but obviously he does well in music so... Oh, and I love his style. haha

I met the lads in a pub where I live about 3 months before their album, whatever you say I am that's what i'm not went huge. One of them was trying to chat up my mate but she was having non of it at the time. She often says now how much she regrets not giving the bloke a chance! Oh well, their music is great and i've been listening to their albums for ages now. surprised a bit that the US likes this kind of sound if i'm honest though.

Hi Lucas07, your profile doesn't say where you are, so I thought I would post this link. It's the Arctic Monkeys playing live on British Radio, they did a cover of Girls Aloud Love Machine. I really like it, but I don't think it was ever released so wasn't sure whether you would have heard it. I think it's great, just has a whole lot of energy and a love Alex Turner's voice.

I have The Libertines second, self-titled album and listen to Babyshambles and also Dirty Pretty Things which are the bands The Libertines members went into after the band split. I think Babyshambles would be good live - if they were to turn up. The cancelled FOUR times at the venue closest to me, and in the end got banned! He has an interesting sound to his music and voice and I like to listen to him on the radio, but I wouldn't rush out at buy his albums. I would probably only buy them if I saw them reduced at a music store. Though I'm not sure how much we will be seeing of Pete Doherty after this...

Doherty owns up to drug relapse

Doherty is said to be "filled with remorse" for his latest relapse
Singer Pete Doherty has admitted he has suffered a drug relapse and has pledged to seek further help in his attempts to tackle his heroin addiction.
"Peter sadly relapsed last week and is now looking to check himself back into a rehab clinic," said a spokesman for his record company, EMI.

"He realises that he has not only let himself down but has let down those who trusted and encouraged his efforts."

The statement follows newspaper photos of Doherty apparently injecting heroin.

The mobile phone images, published in The Sun, were said to have been taken on Friday.

"Peter would like to apologise to the medical staff, fans and well-wishers who have helped and encouraged his progress," the statement reads.

Peter is filled with remorse for what he describes today as 'a stupid, stupid action'

EMI statement

"His ongoing rehabilitation was a source of such pride to him that Peter and those closest to him thought that he was close to winning his personal battle with the drug.

"He is filled with remorse for what he describes today as 'a stupid, stupid action for which I feel only shame'."

Last month the 28-year-old - due to start a UK arena tour with his Babyshambles band on 22 November - was handed a suspended prison term for drugs and motoring offences.

Doherty's relapse followed his appearance last week at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Munich, where organisers praised his punctuality and professionalism.

In an interview with NME magazine published this week, he admitted he had found staying off drugs "hard work".

Like Amy Winehouse, I hope he sorts out his drug problems soon and concentrates on his music!

i used to like them. but suddenly they were huge and big and at mtv and whatever, and the new album sucked ;)

They're not too big over here in the US, but I can imagine them being a little played out in Europe. I remember reading about how hyped they were over there before their first album came out.

Oh, yeah, I like their cover of Amy Winehouse's "You Know I'm No Good."

I loved AM's first album. I had on it repeat for ages when I first got it. I've got the second album as well, but I've yet to get around to listening to the whole thing.

I saw them in Sydney a couple of months back. They delivered a great show. Alex Turner in particular is a pure talent, and they seemed totally unaffected by the hype that surrounds them. They've got too much substance to be skittled by hype.
A big thumbs up from me..|

they are the best!! i love "From the Ritz to the Rubble" its awesome!

i didnt like the 2nd album as much...but it still has a few songs that i like, teddy picker, brianstorm, and D if for Dangerous are standouts!

their original bassist was really cute, too bad he left the band.

i think the 2nd album is a better record than the first.
i can't decide which of the 2 i like better though.
