ER is, by far, my favorite show currently on TV. I've watched it since the first episode. The season premiere tonight was one of the best episodes ever.

There won't be any reruns this year since NBC is splitting the timeslot this season between ER and a new show called The Black Donelleys that will start mid-season. It'll be nice to have nothing but new episodes, but it'll be hard having to wait until September for the next season to start.

Its off to a good start. I havent been watching it as much as I used to. It seemed to loose some of its punch over the past couple years, but it looks like its back on an upswing. I was kind of shocked to hear the word asshole on network tv. I'm looking forward to this season.

While we're on the subject of ER....waht is your favorite episode? Mine would probably have to be the final episode with Dr. Greene. I've seen it dozens of times now, and I still cry at the end

The one that's always stuck out in my head is the episode where Lucy died. I really liked her and I was devastated when she died.

I love ER the premiere was great. My favorite episodes would probably have to be when Lucy gets killed that was kind of like the big moment of the series.

Been a fan since day one. Great season premier.

My favorite payback scene - is when (Romano) gets killed by the helicopter falling on him. Karma rules. I only wish he could have canned the red head (Morris) before he met his maker.

^^ Yeah, I don't really understand why Morris is there. He's always been a horrible doctor and should have been fired a very long time ago. But, no, they made him the ER chief when Susan left (again). I've never understood that plot development.

Looks like we're in for a good season. I have a feeling this may be the last though. Interesting fact. Noah made more per episode than the entire cast made per episode the first season.

So glad they dumped that cheesy 90's opening sequence when the cast are shown, that was much better tonight.
What do ya bet after everything Sam ends up pregnant?

I don't think this is the last season. ER is more like a soap opera format than other drama series. The cast is always changing, meaning that the show never has a chance to get stale. Think about it, no one from the original cast is still on the show, but it's still as good as ever. I think ER still has at least a few years left. In fact, I think I remember reading that it's already been renewed through at least 2009.

It's like a 'guilty pleasure' at this point....

I still watch it, even record it when I'm not at home, but really...it's
the only show I know of that's 'jumped the shark' at least two times, now.

Once...with Dr. Romano's demise... First he gets his arm chopped off by
a helicopter, then, that not being good enough, they just DROP one on him to finish him off for good. (I mean....C'mon..... )

Then this season's premere.....Sheesh, that police chase scene was just silly.
Good thing that ramp was there so the cop's car could flip over dramatically in the air... And apparently, the cops in Chicago have no back up, as they just escaped down the highway.

(I'll still watch next week, though.... Sally Field is back ! :gogirl: )

I cannot believe it that I missed the last moment of the episode...I was interrupted, but when I had my back turned, I heard the gunshot....can you believe it? Perfect timing...

I think it only qualifies as jumping the shark if it doesn't work to improve ratings. ER has delivered consistently good ratings for NBC all along. Without ER, SVU, and to a lesser extent, the original L&O, NBC would have nothing to compete with in the drama race.
