Anybody else here hate musicals?

I like them cos they combine my 2 greatest passions : singing and acting !

Oh I'd love to be in a musical one day ...:)

There are certain musicals I like Ragtime, Lion King but the rest don't interest me. What I like about musicals is listening to the vocals and there are certain songs I like. Sam Harris singing "Those Magic Changes" and Patrick Wilson's rendition of "If I Loved You" are my favourites.

Patrick Wilson makes singing look so easy! He's so hot *|*

I hate the music in most musicals - especially the ones with high-pitched loud female vocalists. I fell like I'm being screamed at, and I don't like that. There are a few exceptions; i.e., musicals that I like, such as Hair, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Tommy, Help!, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, etc., but these are not typical of Broadway musicals. It's not a question of whether the music is excellent - it's a matter of preference. I can't stand Judy Garland's voice or Barbra's either, and I seldom like anything that Madonna has done, although with her there are exceptions. My mother was trained in opera and sang well, but I never developed a taste for opera either - possibly because I was overexposed to it as a child.

My best friend (who is completely straight) loves musicals, but his wife does not.

Saw Les Mis with an ex, really enjoyed it. That kind of musical i.e. one that has a story can be quite good. Ones based on the career of successful (or otherwise) recording artists should be banned on health grounds.
