Jock itch is basically athlete's foot in the groin, use an athletes foot cream like Tinactin or Dr Scholls anti fungal cream, and the jock itch should go away, if you don't wash the jock you will keep on reinfecting yourself.

why would you want a home remedy when you just get the above or Lamasil.

And why would you not wash a jock strap. That would be gross, to me.

If you use the right stuff you wont be having reoccuring bouts with it.

How does "jock itch" = "good luck" again?

Wash your good luck away, man! It is all in your head so you can always get more.

I have no doubt that this is probably BS, but this is what I've heard.

Equal parts vinegar and peanut butter. I'm guessing that someone was pulling my leg at work when we were talking about jock itch (I'm a pharmacy tech) and I'd even go as far to say that the vinegar might burn or agitate the situation more.

Just sharing. Please don't try this at home unless you're really bored and like visiting the emergency room. [-X

Jock itch is a fungal infection of the groin. It's contagious, so be aware that you can transfer it to sexual partners. or people who share your clothing or toilet seats.

The over-the-counter medications mentioned above are the best way to treat fungal infections. Normal topical antiseptics don't do a good job of killing fungal infections. Don't ever use a cortisone-based cream on fungal infections - it will make it much much worse.

The best way to prevent jock itch is to always wear clean, dry underwear, bathe regularly, and dry the nooks and crannies of your groin well after bathing.

Any idea you might have that washing your jock strap is bad luck, or possibly attractive to the boys, seems misguided. The high likelihood that you'll pass your jock itch on to partners seems very unattractive to me, and that CAN"T be good luck.
