I've noticed for a couple of months that I wasn't getting notifications dependably and now I'm not getting them at all. Is anyone else having this problem? I kind of depend on them, so this is annoying.

I've mostly turned notifications off. I find it's rarely necessary to be hear that another poster has experienced a highly satisfactory bowel movement or whatever.

What's brown and sits on the piano bench?

Beethoven's first movement.

I don't have notifications on.

I have notifications on which reports reactions and quotes, but I am not subscribed to threads, nor do I get any notifications to my email beyond messages from members or staff.

And, to answer your question, I haven't noticed any difference since the site changed software.

Did I mention I still miss comments? It's a shame not be able to make an aside to someone about some post without creating a conversation. Comments were like Post-it Notes, or an inside joke with a friend. Just reacting with an emoticon is too limiting, and public. But, I've turned to using the reactions to signal to the poster that I have read his comment, to help give closure if the thread doesn't continue.

(heads off to see if the Do You Have to Have the Last Word thread died)

I do everything by notifications. I use the notifications of NEW threads in most of the forums sections. I also get REPLY's notifications of the thousands of threads I subscribe to. They system has been working fine since the new software change a few months ago.

I suspect it may be your email provider (or ISP) that is blocking them. Over the years, here on JUB I've had to switch away from using AOL, Outlook, and maybe Yahoo. When the forums were really busy, those services blocked the JUB emails even before they hit my inbox or junk folder. I currently use VFEmail as my JUB email provider. I don't really recommend VFEmail because a couple times a year or more their service goes down for a few hours or a day or two. All the emails eventually will be delivered once the service is back up. But it is free (you can pay for more storage space, but I don't).

So you may want to try a different email provider.
