You've been listed as a member since late '05, so you should know a bit of history about this section of the board.

The bi/straight section was created for pictures initially, but after gigantic amounts of bi-baiting and related phobia, for want of a better word, in Hot Topics a lot of us started discussing our issues in here, so that anyone who was a baiter or otherwise wouldn't have a leg to stand on - if they're now in here, they would have to be baiting. Then after the last upgrade, the bi-board was spilt into the originally intended porn board, and a no-flame cuddly soft-edged kiddy-safe discussion area. A lot of us didn't like that, because being a no-flame area meant that discussions couldn't get heated without someone getting mods involved. Nevertheless, we were in there and life went on.

Following the most recent upgrade, that bi discussion area was removed along with several others for various reasons, and we were advised to post in here or back in HT. Since a lot of us don't want to get flack for clogging up the increasing amounts of banal shit currently prevalent in HT with our filthy confused closeted bisexual "issues" we've kept it in here, where - and this is the key - LIKE-MINDED people can read and discuss these things.

I think that, at least for now, you're kinda stuck with it. Sorry, dude.

i'll admit those threads DO get real old, REAL FAST but it's really not that serious. for me, if there's a thread i don't wanna read i just DON'T read it...pretty simple. and i gotta say that i think a lot of the stories are pure bullshit, created specifically to get a rise. that's one of the main things i've heard people complaining about...gay guys after str8 guys, but yet the threads keep popping up.

on the other hand i know there probably are guys genuinely looking for advice/support and assume that a gay message board is the best place for them to go for it...CRAZY, ain't it? what bothers me is that alot of these guys end up scared to actually ask for help because they're afraid people are gonna flip out on 'em over it. seriously is it REALLY that big a deal? if they're not directly affecting us, who are we to tell them where and when to say what they want?

I agree that these types of posts get real old and I rarely read them anymore. However...

The guys posting these questions are either trying to get a rise out of other readers or are really looking for some advice. THey're nearly always younger in age (I'm 34) - and we all went through some sort of "should I or shouldn't I" or "does he really like me" periods.

What we need to be doing is answering these posts with the apprpopriate "grow up" response instead of encouraging them to "blow their friend and post the results" types of shit. THese young guys need to understand that what they are feeling is normal, but immature. Also, we need to be pointing out that "even though the object of their affection is they very bery best of best friends" if they don't know the guy's sexuality or intentions, then the friendship isn't nearly as close as the poster thinks it is....and that if it IS that close, a simple mature conversation will end the whole speculation and agonizing feelings of confusion. (I could ask my best friend if I could blow him too...and it would be a mature conversation. LOL...It would end with the lecture of how disrespectful I am and selfish I am for not respecting his heterosexuality, but the mature conversation would still take place and the friendship would only grow stronger as a result.) The more we explain this to them, the more other youngsters will realize it is true and the number of posts will start to decline. Look at the numbers...there are only a handful of posts / responses versus the number of people that actually have read the post.

As far as the drama queens deserpate for some cyber attention - they know who they are and we generally do too. These are the idiots that we should be criticizing, giving shit to and generally not cooperating with - stop giving the queens what they are asking for. These are the folks that I have no compassion for and think should be made to feel like such shit that they don't login in anymore.

oh man. I opened hopnung's gallary and practically came in my pants. He looks just like this nuclear physicist that lives next door. I love to watch him ride his power mower around.
