I liked the movie a lot, though I know most people hated it. I think you have to keep in mind the intentions of the director. It's not your typical thriller.

It sounds dreadful. I am surprised that I had never heard of it before.

As to your comment about Michael Pitt, he is an amazing actor. I have always liked him in everything I have seen him do. Even that really stupid movie, Murder By Numbers. I just like anything he does, even if the movie itself sucks.

That being said, I will be adding this one to my Netflix list now...

The only real torture here is the one Haneke inflicts on the audience.

THIS FILM WAS A COMPELTE WASTE OF TIME AND SPACE..OHHH AND MY $7.00!!

What was sad, was during the film, people were either laughing at the screen, yelling one-liners & others were just getting up and leaving!

ONE OF THE WORST..."THE WORST" FILMS OF 2008!!

I still can't believe Naomi Watts would even be an executive producer on this crap!!

I haven't seen the original Funny Games (I don't want to either!!!) as yet, but this will make an interesting comparison for film aficionados around the world, much like the idea of seeing both Exorcist prequels.

This film should get every single Razzie Nomination....Worst Picture, Worst Supporting Actor Michael Pitt, Worst Actor Tim Roth, Worst Actress Naomi Watts, Worst Director Michael Haneke!

RATING: F

Power to the people who punish bad cinema!

HATED IT!

watched it with my dad and we just turned to each other at the end of it and were like...."What a waste of our time"....like I really wanted to like this movie cause from the trailer it looked really good...but it was just ridiculously bad.....that remote control thing....ugh....LAME.....the whole movie...just BLAH

I just watched it last night. It's about two young, preppy Aryan psycho killers who break into the vacation home of a happy go-lucky family of three. Well they don't so much break in as simply enter through the front door of their unsuspecting victims' home. The two killers spend most of the movie torturing the family with "funny games" which end in deadly ways.

It is so disturbing but so good. You know that the killers' bet that by the end of the night the entire family will be dead will turn out in their favor. And yet, you can't take your eyes off the screen.
It's well acted(Michael Pitt is absolutely creepy) and you really do feel for the family as they await their grim fates. The final scene with Michael Pitt looking into the camera as rock music blares is startling as hell. The movie is supposed to hold a mirror up to the viewer and remind them that watching people be harmed and tortured is not entertaining. And in this case it's not.
But it's still a very well-made film worth watching, though not for the faint of heart.

This is an American remake of a German movie directed by the same director. That one is much better.

It was actually Austrian. The director is Austrian and the original film was done in German. (Although the title was still in English...Go figure...

i didn't know there is a remake of this movie. the original is really good and creepy. nothing to watch with like your friends and family though :) it's more something for movie enthusiasts and people interested in stories like that. the original is very well done and really intense .. if i get the chance to see the remake i will let you know about the differences :)

I bought the original which I thought was crap. The only thing good about the remake is that it has Michael Pitt and Brady Corbett. I didn't know it was out yet.
