The true news is what's new in 2.2 That article does address that though.

While the 2.2 update is a bit unexpected and whether it really is to compete with the Blue Storm thingy is not really what matters.

The top of this page is what's new. The bottom is what the update comes with for those who were never on 2.0-2.1

Now that is worth upgrading

Trawler is somewhat right. With 2.0 there was a MAJOR flaw where by turning off your iPhone NO APPLICATION WOULD LOAD. And music would say "Connect to iTunes to add or buy music"

Cause for some reason it was hidden. And by restoring and backing up you could fix this. But the minute you installed another application or synched another song it was fucked.

And when I went to the apple store with this and get a new iPhone a few days later they came out with an update and fixed it and CLAIMED to fix the reception but diddn't really. It is a little better though.

So it might not be so much them competing. There might be some issues that need to be resolved. I am not aware of them though.

Anyways I can see benefit in this update. Unlike the past where it was just security reasons. I never updated for those.

Oh cool.

I noticed something about the new update too.

Somehow when exiting an app I couldn't go into any apps.

So I restarted and it asked me to connect to iTunes or to make an emergency call.

I was like, "LOL FUCK DIS"

So I restarted it again and it said, "iPhone" is activated and nothing was changed or lost.

It can actually FIX itself now.

That's awesome.
