Apple tops PC Mag satisfaction survey

Apple has once again topped PC Magazine's annual reader satisfaction survey, significantly leading the pack of Windows PC manufacturers. For Desktops, Apple earned a 9.1 overall score; the average overall score for Windows-based desktop PC makers is 7.8 out of 10 (the same as last year's). However, Apple was down from last year in almost every category except technical support, which went up to 8.4 points. Among Apple's marks: 85 percent rating for the reliability of software included on the computer, 93 percent score for new desktops working right out of the box, and the 9 out of 10 score for the attitude of the tech-support provider.
Apple's overall notebook scores were also stellar. As with Desktops, Laptop tech support ratings fell one-tenth of a point to 8.4 out of 10. The quality of repair score was eight-tenths of a point better than the nearest repair score. Most stunning, however: readers rated Mac notebooks a full 100 percent for ease of setup. The overall average score for Windows notebooks dropped to 7.8 from 8.0 in 2006.

PC Magazine used a Web-based survey tool to conduct the study. Respondents discussed any support or repair incidents they had within 12 months prior to taking the survey. More than 16,000 users participated.

in other news it was also found out that mac fans have become 92% obnoxious that is up from 82% last year

also using bad data by grouping all together rather than individually to improve apples superiority has also increase to record levels of 99% which is only surpassed by Microsoft and Sony's marketing departments

from this we can determine that the satisfaction caused by stabbing or maiming an apple fanboy has increased to 95% slightly more than Bill Gates but still less than Adam Sandeler

Come on, it looked pro Apple so had to be jumped on fast. I knew that would happen as soon as I saw your first post. I sometimes wonder who the Zealots are.

I believe Apple wins PC Magazine's satisfaction survey pretty much every year.

Windows/PC users tend to be big Mac Fanboys.

Unfortunately, the survey compares one company (Apple) against all of the PC manufactures put together. Of course there are going to be stragglers in the PC group--some machines are sold dirt cheap without support and that's fine--the market wants them.

Unfortunately, it doesn't report individual PC manufacturers ratings. IBM/Lenovo has to be way way way up there.

I know where it was from i am not an idiot

its called Humour

Humour or humor is the ability or quality of people, objects, or situations to evoke feelings of amusement in other people. The term encompasses a form of entertainment or human communication which evokes such feelings, or which makes people laugh or feel happy. The origin of the term derives from the humoral medicine of the ancient Greeks, which stated that a mix of fluids known as humours (Greek: χυμός, chymos, literally: juice or sap, metaphorically: flavour) controlled human health and emotion.

A sense of humour is the ability to experience humour, a quality which all people share, although the extent to which an individual will personally find something humorous depends on a host of absolute and relative variables, including geographical location, culture, maturity, level of education, and context. For example, young children (of any background) may possibly favour slapstick, such as Punch and Judy puppet shows or cartoons e.g. Tom and Jerry. Satire may rely more on understanding the target of the humour, and thus tends to appeal to more mature audiences.[citation needed] Non-satirical humour can be specifically termed "recreational drollery".[1][2]

Smiling often reflects a sense of humour and amusement.

Click on the link. Lenovo is at the bottom of the heap with a 7.1 as opposed to Apple's 9.1

the real question is why are mac users buying a PC magazine?

the real question is why are mac users buying a PC magazine?

Now Mac users can install Windows, they have to buy PC mags to work out how to get rid of viruses, solve hardware conflicts, and all those other fun things you PC guys do so well...

scary shit right there

I really didn't want to get involved in this but after looking at the stats it seems obvious to me that the whole thing is skewed - not just in favour of Apple but overall. They had 16,000 respondents and only 500 of them were Apple users for starters.

A proper survey would need for example to ask 500 users of every computer manufacturer or something like that

I made a fatal error. I should have posted the url from PC Mag, not the one from Macnn quoting the article. go to

http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,2184104,00.asp

The stats can be downloaded.
I'm not a statistician but ponder this for a moment. Mac is only slightly over 6% of the new computer market. At that rate Mac percentage of respondents is .03 of the total. Should it not be .06?

Oh and the Think Difficult MAC desktop from 2000?? That's sooooo lame hun ;)

yeah, you are right!oops! Try this one!

Looks like it won't upload. sorry

I've build every PC from scratch I've had in the last 15yrs. I buy every part and do the labor.

I'm satisfied with my PCs and have very little problems.
