AppleScript.THT: new virus for MAC OS X

As I understand it you have to click on it to install it. Mac owners should be smart enough to know not to install software by someone other than Apple.

Just like on Vista (with protection activated) a trojan can't run unless you specifically allow it to when the OS asks for permission. Nor can it self-replicate. Any user of Vista or Mac OS X who grants permission to random downloaded applications without knowing what they are is, frankly, beyond protection.
 
you still have to physically run this command on a system to do this, so yeah it's not a virus. There have been other trojan type programs like this released before.

That said, that Applescript vulnerability is pretty serious. It's a local privilege escalation that allows any user full root access. Apple should realize a fix soon.
