It all depends on the people I hang out with. If they're pessimistic then this eventually manifests itself in me, even though I do try cheering them up.

However, whenever I talk or think about a group of people I'm pretty cynical and I tend to think that in general, mankind is full of bastards. Not a positive view but I think it's a realistic one.

cynical, purely cynical. I often think if i was ever actually presented with the choice, i'd so pick the dark side... hmmm, does that make me a bad boy?

Both. When involved in personal interactions, I am almost always optimistic, strongly believing that most individuals strongly want good values to prevail, and for the right reasons.

However, when paying attention to those who are in power (politically, or running corporations, etc.), I am pretty much totally cynical, strongly believing that those in power want it ALL FOR THEMSELVES, and the general public be damned!

However you feel about the latter, you have your own bit of control if you vote on November 7. (Message intended for those in the United States.)

Well on most things i look on bright side. But some things if they seem to always happen, ill be a bit cynical on the matter! But i usauly try and stay positive!

I wouldn't say I'm cynical, more like pessimistic, but only when it comes to my own situations. I do offer optimistic advice to my friends though, as I'm sure anybody would.

But as long as you think the worst, you can't be too disappointed when the worst actually does happen. :D Just kidding....mostly.

I start out Optimistic and end up cynical...

After just taking DK's test on another thread...I can say that I am and love being around people that are optimistic. If I find myself with cynical people or groups, it will usually be a once-only situation. I do not like to hang with people like that; I find I am too in love with life at this time to want to waste it!

you know i'm an optimist :D my mood does slide if people around me are being pessimists though

I'm both a cynic and an idealist... so I wouldn't call myself a "realist," because I can be really stupid when it comes to putting aside my ideals for the sake of more "realistic" pursuits.

I go back and forth between the two. I can be really naive, and occaisionally a bit too trusting... but I also have a very cynical and blunt sense of humour. I also like arguing, and attempting to disqualify social norms and beliefs I view as "stupid," and I can be really harsh and bilious in debate when someone puts forth an idea I think is irrational. So, it really depends on what I'm thinking about. Some topics I'm very pessimistic and harsh, and others I'm really naive.

Most often I'm optimistically realistic (I guess that's just "hoping for the best knowing the best might not happen, but it won't be bad")

I'm the most optimistic person and the most cynical person you've ever met. It depends on my mood. When I'm feeling well, I have a positive outlook on everything. When I'm depressed I see everything as hopeless.

I want so very much to be optimistic, but cynicism inevitably weaves its way into my outlook on so many things...maybe I just should be a pragmatic idealist/optimist and try to accept what is difficult to change and embrace whatever good can be made of something .

I do try to be optimistic, but reality keeps getting in the way.

It does depend on my mood, however for the most part I am pretty optimistic and keep things light.

I think it is more fun to be cynical, so when I am around people who appreciate it then it comes out full force. I tend to swing extremely one way or the other, though, so if I know you don't like rain on your parade then I'll probably be annoyingly optimistic and peppy. It's not on purpose; it just works out that way.
