Arrogant "Young & Restless" Re-Cast Speaks Out

In the October 9 issue of Soap Opera Weekly, Tammin Sursok makes it quite clear that she is not too happy to be portraying Colleen on "Young & Restless." Not happy to be a re-cast (for Adrienne Leon who was fired for gaining a few pounds), but simply not happy to be on an American soap opera.

When asked how she felt about being on a soap opera here in America (as opposed to her native Australia), the actress arogantly states, "in this city it's good to be working, so you can't be too picky."

Well we can, Sursok. And we don't want to see your face everyday.

The conceited little actress finishes up the interview by confessing that she is not Madonna (oh really?). When asked how she felt about leaving Australia, she goes on to say, "I went to England to release an album. It's good for your ego to get that high up and then fall down to the bottom."

So "Young & Restless"/soap acting is the bottom? I'm sick of this girl already, re-cast her with original Colleen, Lyndsy Fonseca if you can't get Leon back.

I'm far from knowledgeable on soaps or the actors that act in them, but technically, isn't soap opera acting the bottom (minus commercials and whatnot)? How many soap actors actually make it past soap operas? The ones I've read about only manage to switch soaps, or have a hiatus for a while only to come back to a soap, due to the lack of work outside soap operadom.

hmmmm.. i never really liked this show, since soapies dont cut it for me..

the music sounds scary lol, it sounds weird. They needa do a remix of it or something with a nice beat to it hahaha..

My friend can do a nice interpretation of the bold and the beautiful. lol, (the song) ill try and get it on video if i can ..

Ohhhhhhhh and you know what other show needs to update their opening titles, DAYS OF OUR LIVES (if thats still on) lol, so old..

There's a lot of actors started in Soap.
Better paying than waitress and bus boy. It's like an intern into professional acting I guess. It's a good way to get your face recognized. They see you everyday not like weeky series. I don't think they get paid much unless they are in Susan Lucci category.

Soaps are a training ground when careers are starting, and a nice steady paycheck when things have stalled (or an actor/actress has aged, since there's a wide range of age groups on every soap). Also, many are filmed in New York, which allows for a stage gig at the same time if one can juggle. Pay depends on how well one negotiates. My ex made less on his soap than I did as a bartender while we were together, and he had a pretty good deal with his soap. Other's situations might be different.
Can't say much about the 'new' Colleen. I DO know if I were her I'd be pissed at having to be paired romantically with the Prof, and not having nearly-naked time with Thad Luckinbill! I'd do HIM for free!

Oh get overyourself no actor goes into it saying I hope I can be on a daytime soap then all my hopes and dreams would be fulfilled!!!!!! It's a job. It's a decent job but it's not amazing and that's precisely what she was saying.

Young and the Restless which gets a few million viewers a week vs. Desperate Housewives which gets nearly 20 million.

Do the math.

Either way, Y&R's been boring lately. Hopefully someone dies in this whole fiasco.

I don't think what she said makes her the be- all and end- all of evil. She's very green and basically put her foot in her mouth.

What she did say was very disrespectful to those actors in the daytime community whom have made daytime a career choice.

Kassie DePaiva has been on daytime playing Chelsea Reardon and Blair Manning on "Guiding Light" and "One Life To Live" for almost 22 years ... Susan Lucci has of course been Erica Kane on "All My Children" for almost 40 years and then there are those actors like Doug Davidson, sorely underappreciated as Paul Williams on "The Young & The Restless" for 29 years. When I read about her saying she has hit rock bottom and that she is lucky to have this kind of job it makes me think of how wrong she is, because of amazing actors like the aforementioned.

Don't feel stupid. If you don't watch the soaps as often, you really won't know. Plus there are just about three or four day time actresses that are still on day time. Yet they do other things that have brought them a lot of fame in other areas. Look at Susan Lucci, and Linda Dano. They both have a huge amount of style and savvy. They made it into a business. In fact Linda Dano started out as a fashion designer. Getting her degree from F.I.T in new York. She has had her own business for about 20 years now. Yet she still acts on the soaps. She started out on One Life to live playing another character. Now she is back playing that Character again. We all know how successful Susan has been with the beauty business.
