This is a commercial for Zellers (a Canadian department store) which features Ashlee.

One pose. One expression.

Not much talent there that I can see.

gsdx, please tell me you weren't actually expecting talent from a Simpson sister.

I'd never even seen her or heard her sing before that commercial. I had to Google her to find out who she was and why she was on a Canadian commercial.

her Bittersweet World album is amazzzzinn
its very underrated

The video no longer works and she has little talent in general, not just as a model.

ughhh.. She is terrible. Did anyone ever watch her reality show on MTV? It was only on for a very short period of time before she got really famous but she was so freakin annoying and dumb on it

omg I was thinking the same thing when I was forced to watch her ad.

I wish I could find the quote from Ashlee Simpson soon after the SNL debacle. It went something like this.

"I'm here to stay. There are a lot of people who are gonna make sure I stick around, so you all better just learn to like me."

I wonder how Vicky Valentine is at modeling?

In general, both the simpson's don't have great talent in any of their fields of entertainment, but they we're marketed well, and of course ashlee got "hand-me-down" fame from older sister... if you look at a lot of hollywood, and the entire entertainment business these days; it is a lot of the same, less talent, better marketing.

Sometimes i really do wonder if some of these managers have, like, Ph.D(s) in marketing/advertising.

^ Well, not technically anymore, but it (and The Bay) will always be Canadian to me.

^ I'm not arguing that. But why THESE skinny attractive girls? Swing by LA - they're not THAT hard to come by.

The strange thing to me is that they keep marketing these two even after it seems the public isn't overly interested. Not that their albums are huge bombs or anything, but they're hardly causing the furor that, say, the Jonas Brothers or Miley Cyrus generates. it seems like they're spending a million to make the same million back. Why repackaged Jessica Simpson as a country artist? I mean, yeah, her single made #17 on the country charts - wouldn't the same song have done as well by someone who actually CAN sing country? Wouldn't any model (or even most other singers) have done the job better? Or is the residual "oh, right, her" effect enough to pay off on the back end?

Lex

OK, that's how they got chosen. But why continue with them? Certainly it'd be a lot cheaper to do that country song with an unknown hottie female who can actually sing country. (Aubrey Collins, line one.) So why Jessica? Does she have enough "name recognition" that country fans and radio stations are gonna jump on the song "just because it's her"?
