At Last......Netflix and Chill

Try two Polish series: The Woods and Hyacinth. Both are excellent and suspenceful crime dramas. Very atmospheric. The latter was inspired by a true goverment campaign by the Polish government against homosexuals in the 1980s. Not the least of its virtues is a lead who could pass for Alain Delon's twin at the time the French actor filmed The Leopard.

Ozark is great. It really picks up steam in season 3.

Ozark is great -

As Ruth would say "Watch it for fuckin fucks sake!"

I'll start out by saying that I am a TV addict. I like my current news channels (cable news), sitcoms, and sci-fi programs. I don't watch that many new movies. I don't want to wait a year or two to watch the next season of TV series I like show up on the free streaming services. I do stream also but it is mostly for catching episodes that I miss. My cablebox has a DVR function, and except for news, I record everything before watching it. I program the DVR once for each program and I'm good to go until I wear out the cablebox and need to exchange it for a new one.

There is no way I would want to have to keep a list of programs I want to keep track of just so I can go hunt for it on whatever streaming service carry's it. I already have a list of programs that are not available on my cable service and then go a pay for streaming service for a month or two until I binge a season of a program. Then I cancel and subscribe to the next pay service to catch those programs. It is a real pain. For instance I need Disney+ to watch the various new Star Wars programs. I need Paramount+ to watch new Star Trek series (there are now about 4 different series being aired). I need Hulu to watch the new seasons or Oriville. Same goes with watching Shameless on Showtime.

I like TV. But my definition of "watching TV' includes watching DVDs and blurays as well as streaming. I don't have broadcast TV anymore. Too expensive, and there really isn't much I want to see. I can wait until any of my shows on broadcast TV come to streaming, or, if I really want to see them I can rent from Prime.

I roll my eyes when people pompously declare "Oh I don't watch TV. I don't even have a TV" . Or when they say "TV rots your brain" and then go on Twitter. With streaming and DVR's, TV has changed. The rise of cable has also changed things with programming of better quality. More choices than the safe, homogeneous, stuff offered on the major networks. If you want to relax in front of the TV you no longer have to suffer through ads or settle for what's on at that particular time. You can watch anything, any time, uninterrupted.

The internet is the new TV. It's no longer primarily for information. It's just one big advertisement now.

I'm not so convinced that streaming services are here to say in the format we currently get. As you know most of the services are now making price increases each year. So for someone like me by the time I pay for steaming services and good internet to stream them, I'm not saving that much over those who think cable TV is no longer a thing.

I suspect the streaming services' bidding and licensing wars will accelerate until they become intolerably expensive (like years ago when cable channels would drop major channels due to licensing problems). Not sure what will come after that but it probably won't be consumer friendly. And then there will be The Big Internet Blackout. I can't wait. People will be freaking out in the streets while I sit comfortably in my apartment watching DVD's and listening to mp3's.

So what did you do after you watched all 6 watchable shows? Was it just "chill" after that?

Sidebar: 1. Why don't we have a fabulouslyghetto emoji? I'm a legend here!

2. what happened to the humping emoji? Am I just really high and overlooking it cuz I only see the threesome one.

I don't have a TV but instead of going to Twitter I come here. Can you imagine my level of boredom?
Instead of watching DVD's and listening to mp3's I'll probably be knitting or watering the plants or something
