Predictions?

I would like to see Murray break through - and I think he will in due course now he has Lendl in his corner - but not yet.

Hard to go past Djokovic, tho' I think Tsonga and Tipsarevic could be 'danger men' in that side of the draw.

In the other half - will it be Roger or Rafa? Or could Berdych put a spanner in the works?

Watch out for Tomic in the next couple of years. He has matured enormously as a player in the past 18months - and now he not only has the shots but a very good tennis brain - and, surprisingly to me, has developed the temperament to be a potential great. He's only going to get stronger. Barring injuries, I doubt it will take him too long to reach the top 10 - and probably the top 4 in the world by 2014.

For the women I think it is harder to pick. I suspect an Azareka/Kvitova final is most likely. Wozniacki is still #1, but I don't think she will be for much longer (but who knows?!). You can never discount players like Clijsters, Li Na, Sharapova - and even tho' I now dislike her intensely after some of her outbursts and unsporting behaviour, Serena - but I think she is past her best.

I'm sure it will be interesting tho'.....|

NOt paying a whole lot of attention right now. Rooting for Novak and Serena though.

Well, Tipsarevic came crashing down. Tomic played superbly against Dolgopolov but it seems highly unlikely he can beat Federer - yet. Hewitt was somewhat lucky against Roddick but really began to look like the Lleyton of old against Raonic - great to watch. I doubt he'll make the same inroads against Djokovic, but he has certainly done well coming back from surgery at his age.

Tsonga is still looking strong. Good win too by Zheng Jie against Bartoli. The second week ought to be interesting.

Well, Hewitt did well to take a set off Djokovic and actually make him look uncertain for a while. Nole also looked pretty flaky against Ferrer for a while too. Am hoping Murray will win through to the final and maybe take the win - but not expecting it to be the most likely outcome.

Am now watching Fed v Nadal. Hoping to see Roger win but not at all sure if that is likely.

The women's is down to Azarenka v Sharapova. Was a little surprised to see Maria down Petra Kvitiova- but she did play well.

Not sure if I am just talking to myself here - is anyone else interested in chiming in with their opinion on what may happen?

Well, Azarenka held her game at the highest level and pretty much destroyed Sharapova. She has not only lifted her first Grand Slam but the #1 ranking as well.

Now watching the doubles - and the Paes/Stepanek combination are playing extremely well against the Bryan bros.

Mens final? -Well - I have to say, after the rigours Djokoic went through to beat Murray, I rather fancy Nadal will outlast him.

So - it' all over and Djokovic won. Tight (long!) match but I still can't say I like him. While other players display various degrees of animation, passion etc (or perhaps not, in some cases, ie if the name is Federer ;)), with the Djoker it (to me) seems to just come across as "look at me, I'm the best and I'm gonna be conceited about it". I just don't like the attitude.

Alas, for many sport stars, talent and arrogance go hand in hand.
