Imagine how many people are out of work before they even have a job.

On the upside, I don't suppose the robots can spit in the customers' food, but what about hygiene?

We've seen this all before. The Automats of the 60's were introduced to essentially eliminate servers....

The statement said the CaliExpress by Flippy kitchen can be efficiently managed by a smaller crew, offering a less stressful atmosphere compared to competing restaurants while ensuring above-average wages.

And these don't even necessarily replace servers...only the cooking staff.

This isn't about the effect of high wages...this is about the impact of standardized production in the fast food industry....in fact, this isn't even AI...this is just automation dressed up to be a gimmick...like watching Krispy Kreme doughnuts being made.

The real change is in the mass retail market and use of Amazon...this is where there is a huge reduction in staffing because of automation.

But just a reminder...because of demographics...it is harder and harder to find people who want to work for nothing.

The next generation of slave labour in the west has to be robotics and automated processes.

Actually I should say there is a reduction in one sector and usually an increase in a different sector. Transportation jobs and warehousing jobs have increased as we shift to on-demand consumerism, including now, ordering full menus and more and more meals on-line.

From what I see, the cardboard box industry must be exploding.

While fry cook and burger flipper jobs may be made obsolete (they won't), by gimmicky automaton line cook robots...there is a whole other industry of keeping these machines in working order opening up. Because one thing I know for sure after some hundreds of thousands spent on computers and machines...they don't fucking maintain or fix themselves.

I am not surprised they are slowly phasing out cashiers. The self check outs and the machines that checks the shelves to see whats fully stock or not.
