Hi my name is Shane, I'm 19 and here are my current stats:

I am 5'11" and weigh 175lbs. I'm not really chubby, but I'm not toned at all either.

I'm trying to achieve a lean/toned body. I'm not really into big muscles so what I'm looking at is high cardio workouts and a bit of weight lifting..

Here's my daily diet (usually, I do occasionally eat out though):

Morning:
Apple
Strawberry's + Blueberries + Raspberries
Bowl of Honey Shreddies with 2% Milk

Lunch:
Salad (Romaine/Baby Spinach with cherry tomatoes, red onion, cran raisins, sunflower seeds) + Balsamic Dressing
Sandwich (Chicken, Lettuce, Chedder Cheese on Rye)
Banana/Other Fruit

Dinner:
Chicken/Salmon (Medium portion, about the size of a hand or smaller)
Brown Rice/Basmati Rice with a little soy sauce
Steamed Vegetables

Don't eat desert and I don't really snack, except occasionally having grapes/whatever other fruit in the fridge. I don't drink anything but water except on rare occasions now, and I only have milk with breakfast.

I do like to eat out at Thai/Vietnemese Restaurants rather frequently, and will not hesitate to add something to my lunch every couple days (cookie, muffin, etc). I plan to be more diligent in cutting those out...

Current outlook of my body: Everything could use work. I feel I look a tad bit bloated after eating and would like a more toned upper body. I also have annoyingly thick ankles :p. I actually have lost 10lbs in the past 2 months (I was formerly 185lbs)

My current routine: I don't have a gym membership, but I plan on getting one. I have a friend who has agreed to work out with me (we can keep eachother motivated, yay!). I try to go biking/running at least 3 times a week as well as do some weight lifting/crunches on those days as well (I've yet to break into a steady routine though). Most of my calorie burn comes from my job, which involves about 5 hours of pure walking (estimate), outside. I go door to door all day non-stop informing people about a new citywide change (basically, without giving too much personal information).

I'll definitely get some pictures up soon, but any opinions on what is currently here are greatly appreciated, as well as any suggestions for any other information I can put up here as well!

Thanks a lot everyone!

Sounds like you have the motivation, that's great! And it seems like you have a reasonable goal too.
I think it's very important and HEALTHY to have an attainable goal. If you don't, you will constantly strive for something that isn't possible. Thus creating a bad cycle.
Get on a schedule that fits and works for your lifestyle.
Good luck to ya!

Hmm I would say change 2% milk to skim milk as 2% can add a bit to you're whole weight type thing. With lunch, I'd say maybe try to maybe switch the balsamic to something like low-fat raspberry vinaigrette. Be careful of the chicken/salmon you take, as in whether you grill it, filet it, fry it, etc. Grilled is probably the best instead of say frying your meat. But that's just my opinion. Other than that, good luck!

I'm a little confused by "I want to get lean/toned" because they're both different things. I'm guessing you want to lower your body fat and get some muscle. You did say you didn't want to get too big. Getting big muscles isn't about the workout, but the eating. Size growth is mostly about eating a caloric surplus. So if you're just simply eating healthy, don't worry about getting huge.

That said, give this a try: http://www.menshealth.com/cda/artic...item=9bd999edbbbd201099edbbbd2010cfe793cd____

When you get a gym membership start at Phase 1. The first phase is about shedding some fat and gaining muscle strength--basically what you're looking for. This combined with healthy eating, and you should be set.

Don't give up!!!! Eyes on the prize.

Good luck.

How do I upload pictures here? Or what imagehosting site works with this forum? :S

Thanks for the comments and advice everyone.

Looks like you're pretty close to your goal. If you did some swimming for overall toning a few times a week you'd look (more) terrific in a very short time.

Kara and Corny - thanks for the help, although I feel a bit dumb now that I didn't realize that button near the bottom! :o

3nipples - Thanks for the compliments :P I do love to swim... I've been boating my whole life - just the water is cold where I am still! The gym im looking at joining DOES have a pool though. (3 actually)

The pictures help. Based upon your pictures, you're height-weight appropriate. You have the base frame and you just need to add tone and a bit of muscle around your shoulders and chest.

Probably the goals for you involve increasing your protein intake and adding weights to your workout.

We never dream about complaining about anything you might show.

Thanks Kara!

I'm sort of concerned what'll happen after I don't have a job and go to university though. I don't want to gain back all the weight! I can't imagine I'll be able to substitute the 25 hrs of walking a week that I'm getting currently..
