Always take antibiotics prescribed by a dentists. Bacteria from the mouth can enter the bloodstream directly through the gums. As for the pain, what does the dentist say? Why so many root canals all at once? Perhaps you need a second opinion.

If you already had pain when you went to the dentist in the first place, then the area was already infected. It isn't unusual to still have pain after a week if the dentist wasn't able to get everything out and the infection therefore remains.

I don't understand why you didn't take the antibiotics you were given. What were you thinking? #-o

A dull ache is normal. They have been prodding around, taking things out and the sorrounding area gets flared up. Something going wrong or a bad job and you would have sharp pains. Keep taking what has been given to you, and if it doesn't stop within the week, go back/get a second opinion.

NO......THAT kind of pain is not normal.
There might be some discomfort for a day or two because of the trauma in that area but not BECAUSE of the root canal.

On another note doctors don't hand out antibiotics because they don't have anything else to do.......

time to take better care of your teeth and go to the dentist regularly while the cavities are still fresh to fill, without root canals :)

Piggy, Piggy, Piggy!!! Naughty little Piggy!! You have to take your antibiotics as you were instructed to do - and for the length of time until the pills run out!!! Set them out in the middle of your kitchen counter so you will see them and remember and put a note on your bedside stand saying "Take Pills Piggy!!" Your extra pain could have been from a minor infection that the pills would have relieved.

PS/ You never said how the upsidedown tomatoes came out!!! :D

Your crowns are going to wear down more slowly than your natural teeth. Now (presumably) they're all in a straight line with the surrounding teeth, but that's going to change as your teeth continue to wear. That means that bye and bye, say 2 to 3 years, the crowns will be slightly higher than the surrounding and will have additional pressure put on them when you chew.

The danger is that the crown will get loose or worse, the partial tooth underneath is going to crack. That will allow bacteria to get in and eat away at the remaining tooth. Eventually it will have to be pulled and you will need a bridge or an implant, assuming the bone wasn't also affected by the bacteria.

What I'm saying is that the permanence of your crowns is relative. You need to make regular visits to the dentist from now on and see him immediately if one of them gets loose.
