I've been able to play HD movies perfectly on VLC, maybe you just need look at the options and see if the video performance is set wrong.

Also you know Windows Vista sucks right? You need to have a really fast computer with a good video card to play 1080p movies.

Also Windows Media Player and RealPlayer are a fail because they suck at playing movies, one of the worst programs out there.

I'll second VLC. It's the only program I play videos on. Other than that, I'm afraid I can't give any advice. :(

I am aware that Vista has more than enough...shortcomings. I don't see how my computer couldn't be capable of playing these videos though. My comp is only a couple of years old and I know people who can play HD vids on systems much older than mine.

I know someone who has a computer 8 years old and they have Windows XP and their games and videos are three times better looking than my Vista machine of four years old because he has a powerful video card. With a powerful video card he can probably watch 1080p videos smoothly without any issues.

Vista is a huge video hog it will make things slow and games run like shit, that's why so many people like Windows 7. Vista is like Windows ME it's just updated with pretty glass menus and clear windows.

Also I hope you know I wasn't trying to be an asshole with my first post, I had just seen your list and saw VLC, I was like "Really? VLC is like light years ahead of Windows Media Player and RealPlayer with compatibility and performance."

I also want to add VLC gets updated A LOT more than Windows Media Player when was the last time Windows Media Player updated, when Windows 7 came out probably? I bet most of the codecs won't even play on WMP as compared to VLC, they are adding new codecs all the time.

Get a fast CPU and enough RAM. Those things are usually the culprits for lagging videos.

Newsflash! Yes, VLC should do the trick, but there seems to be a new and improved 'player' in town : Daum Potplayer (yes i know, but hey, what's in a name right :D).
It sounds very promising (see xenonmagazine.com/showthread.php?t=3547). There you'll also find the "but". It's very much in development (but look for the translated -english- version on the web) ...

If you try it, will you share your experiences with us? (*8*)

I tried Potplayer and GOMplayer. They both do the same thing.

That's a pity. But thanks for your feedback.

OK, so you think your graphic card is the bottleneck. Do you know its specs? (modelname, nvidia / ati chipset, questions, questions ..)

Just a thought, are you playing these off a DVD or from your hard drive? If from a DVD then copy to your hard drive before playing. Probably obvious but thought I would mention.

(You might need to update your drivers too. Get Driver Genius Professional and do a scan for new drivers.)

The problem sounds more related to your PC not being tuned up. If a PC is not in prime condition (software wise) then no matter what you play, it's probably not going to work right.

Here are some programs I suggest for tuning up your PC.

CCleaner
PC Tools Registry Mechanic
TuneUp Utilities 2012
Your Uninstaller! Pro
UltimateDefrag

Here is some anti-spyware options in case this may be related:

SUPERAntiSpyware
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

Posting links with illegal downloads is against the Terms of Service on this site. You need to pay the small fee for Pro. They offer a service, and it's not right to steal software.

It's also not right that every day Predator drones bomb weddings and kill many innocent women and children all because they needed to terminate a SINGLE threat but hey, people seem to endorse the war just fine!

The thought of being banned from JUB doesn't scare me. I'll post freely without the fear of anything.

But for the sake of being fair, if people can afford the software, they should buy it. I understand the concept of right and wrong, I'm just not totally on board with a system meant to work so much more freely and so much more openly but because of copyright claims and other harsh abuses handed down from the corporate giants, I could give a flying f*** what people think. I'm as mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore!

Erm... before y'all ruin yo pretty lil nails with a bitchfight from hell, if you care to click the link and hover over the download link, you'll find that it downloads the basic version from the iobit.com site. You still have to pay to upgrade to Pro.

Just thought you might like to know that you're arguing over something that isn't factually correct - maybe it's just me, but I often find that little details such as 'the truth' are important in these situations! ;)
