My visits to the Seattle Central Library focus on Level 7 - Science & Technology.

I had a bad experience when, one day, the elevator stopped on Level 4 - the Red Zone. I got off the elevator because all that Red looked interesting. But when the elevator doors closed, a feeling of panic took over me. I pressed the button for the elevator, feeling like I was trapped in the Red Zone. Great relief when the elevator doors opened. Back to Level 7 for me but the other people on the elevator could see that I was upset by something.

I'm still shocked by my physical reaction. Red is Not my color.

That day at the library was the first anxiety attack for me. I desperately prayed the next elevator would hurry.
I have a new appreciation for people who experience panic attacks, the Red Zone at the Seattle library still disturbs me!

Those are stunning libraries!

My home county library system has 26 libraries, of many sizes and styles. Haverford's is currently closed for renovations: they have a small temporary one open now. But none are spectacular.

The one I've visited that comes closest is Minneapolis.

Now That's a library designed for actual humans! Modern with all the amenities, that's a beautiful library. Seattle has money from the tech industry to fund public facilities and that played a very large role in the ever ballooning Central Library's building fund. Like my Dad used to say, "once the building is complete you'll need 3 times as much to keep it maintained". Dad was a Navy man.
