*** KEVIN IN SOUTH TULSA ***

Below: Elton John's No. 1 song of all-time by a solo male artist

Below: The No. 1 solo male artist of the past 52 years

Below: Usher would have been the No. 1 solo male artist of the past 52 years but his No. 1 for 12-weeks "Yeah!" wasn't a solo single (featured Li'l Jon & Ludacris) and "My Boo," No. 1 for 6-weeks was a duet with Alicia Keys

Wow....never realized how big some of my favorite songs had made it. Songs like U Got it Bad, Lose Yourself, Nice and Slow, and so many others were my teenage years. My sister would hate this list. She's an 80s gal. Can't stand her taste in music, lol. Gotta love the generational differences in music tastes.

Any list that places Eminem in the top 20 and/or Mario (who the fuck is he) over even the worst of Michael Jackson is just foolish. This is a foolish list of non-accomplishment.

This list Is SHIT! Billie Jean Isnt Even In The Top 5, WHAT......THE....FUCK? The Top 10 Is A Joke, 3 Fuckin Usher Songs, And No Michael Jackson Songs, Who The Fuck is Mario?, and Chubby Checker?

If this is a "male solo list", Then why is "Nuthin But A G thing" here, I Love That song, but its not a solo song, its DR. Dre And Snoop Dogg! This List Is A Complete Waste, Billboard Dont Know Shit About Songs

Ok Why Would they even consider Usher as the most sucessful solo artist of the past 52 years, Michael Jackson SHOULD be the No. 1 Male solo artist of the past 52 years, No ONE! Has sold more records than michael jackson! Billboard is so corrupted, Crank that isnt the No. 1 song Right Now, They manipulated the chart, Another Song is Probably Number one right now, not that stupid ass "crank that soulja boy tellem" whatever the fuck.

When Doves Cry was Prince and the Revolution. It shouldn't be on the list.

Actually No, Prince Performed All The Musical Instruments On His OWN in the recording, therefore its a Solo Recording. The Revolution Played all the instruments On All the Other Tracks recorded On Purple Rain!

You are probably right, but Billboard (who put this list together) credits the song to "Prince and the Revolution." So, either they're wrong now, or they were wrong then.

hmmmm, thats strange, Nuthin But a g thing is on the list, but its Dr. Dre And Snoop Dogg, so its not a solo song? i think someone made up the list.

Ugh, Prettyboyrising you're opening up a whole Pandora's Box of confusion with Prince.

While typing this list out (straight from the Billboard book since it isn't available on the net), I was kinda wondering to myself why there wasn't a whole lot of Prince songs and now I realize why:

Prince & The Revolution, Prince & The NPG and of course there was that six-year phase where he had NO NAME, regardless of whether he was solo or with a group. LOL.

Once again, shoot Billboard, don't shoot the messenger.

ya i was thinkin that too, but his first five albums, "For You" up into "1999", Then again from "Sign 'O' the Times" up into "Graffiti Bridge", and then his three most recent albums "Musicology", "3121", And "Planet Earth" were all solo albums, without anybody else recording parts in the studio, thats 13 solo albums, Im Wondering Why "Little Red Corvette" wasnt included in the list, definatley one of his most well known songs

When compared to the Female's list, I find it interesting how many oldies actually made this list.

Hear. Hear. It also suggested that female artists nowadays are more dominating than their peers in the earlier years of pop and rock. Good for them. But still, I love both lists. Thanks Kevin... I love the messenger. I don't shoot.

Well, not bullets anyway.

Somewhat random selections. I don't agree with half of them, but...whatever.

Each of them have had lengthy and successful careers, no arguing there, it's just that they didn't have an indivdual hit that spent enough weeks at the top of the chart as well as total weeks on the chart in the formula Billboard uses.
If the category was Top Male Vocalist on the Singles Chart then yes they would appear well up based on a career of work but that isn't what this list is for.
