Who else is looking forward to the release of Bioshock!? It should be great considering it won game of the year at E3. I love the look of the game in general. I think it will be slightly twisted and creepy, slightly RPG, slightly FPS, and the graphics rock. Too bad they've taken so long to release it though. Oh well, I have it pre-ordered and will be picking it up early morning on the 21st! Is anyone else getting it? PC or 360? I have a feeling that not playing this game on a PC would ruin it, but I've always preferred the extra complexity of PC games over their console counterparts.

I've been waiting and waiting on it myself.

I read somewhere a great review, talking about how it breaks away from other things. Tests your morals or some such thing like that. I've never been able to find that review since.

Unfortunately, I don't have a 360 yet, though I wish I did. I'll probably get it on PC, unless I come into some money and can afford a 360.

Either way, I am getting this game as soon as I can. I can't wait to play it.

Most definitely I'll be playing this. Although I haven't decided on which platform. My pc is due for an upgrade (at least if I want to play the latest games). And I don't have a 360 yet. So I have a big decision to make. But this game oozes with so much originality and creativity; I hope it finally makes the rest of the game industry finally understand what making a good game actually means.

I'm just glad it isn't on the overly expensive PS3. I don't want to pay all that extra just for blu-ray. Not even all the expected hit games can make me want to get it. Not until that price really drops.

I think I will be investing in a 360 soon, especially for this.

Ah thank you Daemon for that vid! I hadn't seen it. Yea the creativity and originality is by far the biggest reason I'm getting it. It's gonna be so amazing! Little scary girls haven't been so much fun since FEAR, and I could barely play that game it freaked me out so much haha. In fact, I don't know if I ever finished it...

I'm hoping it will be as good on 360 as PC, but I am gonna start with the PC version and go from there. I need to order some more RAM, but other than that my computer is set. I just have a feeling that the graphics will be much better on PC (if you have invested in the right computer), and having more buttons to do those sick moves should be a plus

I have the demo and it's stupidly awesome, I haven't had a game in ages make so much of an impact so quickly. And it's pretty. Definately getting it.

FPSs give me motion sickness . I know, i know... Yes i can make them all day long, and do. But i never really play them because of the motion sickness. I tried playing Half Life 2 when it came out a while back, and literally threw up after 20 minutes... twice. So in lieu of taking Dramamine to play a video game, i gave up on playing FPSs, and stick to making them . Though BioShock will most definitely rock insanely.

i pre-ordered the limited edition... annnd... i'm awaiting reviews... it releases today so if you get it and you're like OMFG this game SUCKS!!!... please tell us because i'm soooo skeptical about this title... i dunno what to think of it... although it does sound good... but yeah... lol i'm scared it'll suck somehow

I'll give you my harsh opinion. I don't think the graphics are very good for how much power it takes to run them. Especially on computer actors it just isn't that great. Now as far as story, it's kinda odd and hard to understand. It seems like everything is just going really fast, although it may have been better if they didn't literally dump you straight into the game. Otherwise it's very original and insanely fun to play. I can't elaborate on all of the good stuff because you need to see it on your own, but I think the good COMPLETELY outweighs the bad. Also, it is challenging and not a breeze to get through, which I think is a plus

As a video game designer myself, i have to tell you, you can't expect movie quality graphics, especially from characters, in games. Even a supercomputer doesn't have the kind of processing power to make that happen.

Remember, a game has to be rendered in real time, so it has to make 30 video frames a second, and your GPU has to compute each frame in real time to display on your screen. So it takes 1/30th of a second per frame to render.

When you're talking movie or TV quality, it takes HOURS to render each individual frame, and that's with the ENTIRE computer's resources devoted to the process, not just the GPU. For example, if i was to make a scene for a movie or television show i'm working on, that's about say 10 seconds long, it would take me about 25 days to render. Obviously that's completely unfeasible for a video game, as 10 seconds of gameplay must take exactly 10 seconds to render and display, i.e. instant.

Another example, in the movie Transformers, one particular 8 second scene with Optimus Prime took a bank of hundreds of video rendering servers the better part of 6 months to render. That's a good example of why you always hear that a movie or TV show has been delayed in order for the computer grpahics to be put in place. It takes a lot of time, time you don't have in a video game. Thus sacrafices need to be made. But compare any video game today, to one even 2 years ago, and the difference is ASTONISHING. Keep in mind there's a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes in your computer to make that game work, so you can imagine why older computers can't come close to running today's games.

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not expecting TV quality. However, I compare all shooters to HL2, simply because it is the best game ever invented. That said, the graphics are much less pristine in Bioshock than in HL2.

Also, I finished the game and it was GREAT! I can't wait for more people to finish it, you're jaws will drop!
