Black Leaders Seek End to Use of The N-Word!!!!!

Yes, by all means let's eliminate the 'N' word from our vocabulary and as AHOTJOCK71 noted, it should begin in the Black comunity. Bernard Kincaid, the African-American mayor of Birmingham, AL said on local radio it was an insult for non-Blacks (Caucasians, Asians, etc.) to use the N-word but it is OK for Blacks to call each other the 'N' word because it is endearment and familiarity If you watch movies on Black Entertainment Television or the Comedy channel, it is not unusual to hear the 'N' word used many, many times by Black entertainers and actors. I wince every time I hear the word. How many young non-Black kids hear Black kids use the word at school, on the street or on TV and think it is cool and acceptable? If I had kids who used the 'N' word, there would be certain and swift punishment for using THAT word.

Fine, the Blacks want to eliminate the use of the word nigger as a perjorative...but I seriously doubt they can get every Black kid that refers to his friends by that term to stop; nor every comedian or movie producer. And while we're on the subject, how about eliminating Fag, Wop, Kike, Spic, Towel-head, Wetback, Pollack, Chink, Gook, Kraut...well, you get the picture. I don't understand why one word should take precedence over all the rest of the insults floating around out there.

What about all the black performers and their "cracker" and "Whitey" routines? Is that going to stop? Paul Rodriguez says he believes people shouldn't be muzzled and comedy performers should be allowed to do their thing......SURE he does, his whole act is putting the White Man down. Now these 2 black guy's that caused all this trouble need to have their hurt feelings soothed with MONEY! I just had to laugh when I heard that..........I live in a world of Ass Holes!

What about the n-word as it is used in movies and plays? I think the responsibility falls on the individual. You can't ban words. You can educate, and hope that people will understand.

extremely naive, especially when the people who most over use the word is the black community. Why not ban the music genre gangster rap instead? I think that does more harm than any word ever has.

I couldn't have said it bettter. It would be a much better world if all prejudice could be erased, but I just don't see that happening. Many people would stand on my side of the line and agree, yet the problem is the people we're staring at on the other side of the line. They either don't want to change, don't think they need to change, or are ignorant of the fact that a change is needed.

Actually, "Fag" is used the most. And when the N word is being used, it's usually between 2 black people so not as much people get offended because of it but lots of people get offended when people use "fag".

Every time the N word is used it's not between two black people, and the incident at the laugh factory involving that washed up "Seinfeld" star is a perfect example. I'm Italian and growing up in my neighborhood a lot of people used that term when referring to black people and the sad part about it is they saw nothing wrong with it. No matter how much people try and ignore it racism is alive and well in the United States. A couple of decades ago a large majority of Americans thought it was acceptable to be segregated from blacks, and I doubt a couple of laws and marches changed their ignorant views. Those people did not vanish in to thin air, they had children and their children had children, so most likely those racist views were passed down to them but now being that racism is considered to be morally wrong they will not be as open about it.
